What is BSc. Biotechnology?

BSc Biotechnology or Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology is a 3 years undergraduate (UG) level course program. Biotechnology is a branch of study in applied biology that includes the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in several fields such as engineering, technology, research, science, medicine and other required by products.

      Biotechnology is combined with two subjects such as Biology and Technology. It brings the concepts of Biology and Engineering and its main aim is at putting concepts of both these subjects together, and make innovative developments.

        Biotechnology is also known by its short name biotech. In short, biotechnology deals with the modification or development of living organisms according to peoples purposes. The main aim of this branch of science is to develop all useful products from living organisms or enhancement of living organisms which will result in hike in their value.

      The program prepares aspirants with an analytical mindset to obtain exact solutions to harness the quality of life through major advances in health and medicine. The study structure of biotechnology comprises genetics cell biology biomolecules plant and animal tissue culture immunology, microbiology and bioengineering. The wide area of study involves research in biological systems and application of technology to create innovative products to advance life.

The ridiculous structured program has a strong interdisciplinary research in biological sciences and engineering which enhance the students for the industry as well as research programs. Graduates in this field will significantly contribute to research and development to improve people’s lives and health.

The course duration will be 6 semesters and the period of each semester is 6 months. The minimum educational qualification needed to apply for the course is 10+2 in the science branch from a recognized educational board. BSc. Biotechnology: Duration

            Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology or B.Sc. Biotechnology is an undergraduate (UG) level course program which introduces students to the fundamentals of biotechnological sciences. It is a 3 years course program which is divided into 6 semesters. Every semester lasts for the period of 6 months. The minimum duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 6 years for Distance learning.

  • A minimum aggregate marks of 50% (45% for SC/ST students) at both Higher Secondary and Senior Secondary (classes 10 and 12) levels.
  • Biology, Physics & Chemistry will be main subjects at 10+2 level, with a minimum aggregate marks of 60%in these subjects.
