What is BSc. Emergency Medical Technology?

B. Sc. Emergency Medical Technology is an undergraduate (UG) level course Program. The field of emergency medicine technology is basically new to the medical world but it has become the major back bone of the healthcare system in most of the developed countries. Emergency Medical Technology team take care of patient presenting with urgent emergencies. All the initial things will be done by the Emergency Medical team comprising of several Emergency physician, coordinator, Technician and other paramedical staffs and coordinators. This course provides mainly towards the initial resuscitation of patient who enters in the Emergency room. As the number of trauma patients and natural disasters are increasing day by day. Emergency Medicine Technology has become the need of every hour.

BSc. Emergency Medical Technology: Duration

Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Technology or B.Sc. Emergency Medical Technology is an undergraduate (UG) level course program which introduces students to the fundamentals of medical technology. It is a 3 years course program which is divided into 6 semesters. Every semester lasts for the period of 6 months. The minimum duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 6 years for Distance learning. For some of the institutes it is 4 years whereas one year is for internship program.

BSc. Emergency Medical Technology: Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility for studying UG in Emergency Medical Technology is 10 and 12 qualifications from an approved educational board with Biology/Chemistry/Physics as the mandatory subjects studied in class 12, with an aggregate score of at least 50 per cent. Few of the colleges/universities also accept Botany/Computer Science/Biochemistry/Zoology as the major subjects studied in class 12.

Post-Graduate (PG): To study PG course in Emergency Medical Technology, the common eligibility criteria is graduation or equivalent degree pertaining in a discipline completed from an approved university, with an aggregate score of marks of at least 55 per cent is needed.
