CLAT or Common Law Admission Test 2020 is an All India Entrance Exam conducted on a rotational basis by 19 law Universities across India.
It organizes admission to various UG and PG courses for those interested to learn law. The CLAT exam is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The CLAT scorecard is accepted across many private and public law colleges in India.
In a recent executive meeting of the Consortium of NLU’s a discussion regarding the schedule of CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) was discussed and approved. Based on the discussion it was stated that CLAT 2020 will be conducted on 10th May 2020. The Application process for the same will begin from 1st January 2020.

What details were discussed?
A general guide to the question paper and the format of CLAT will be discussed in detail. The paper setter should keep the 12th standard level in appearing for the CLAT.
A quantitative analysis paper will be framed on the 10th standard level. The topics included are English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning.
Applicants enrolled for the CLAT 2020 can check their cards from the Consortium website. A negative marking scheme of 0.25 marks is given for each wrong answer done for UG and PG courses.
The CLAT Entrance Exam Schedule
CLAT entrance exam application forms had been released on 1st January 2020. The Application Form is available online for the candidates. The applicants have the opportunity to fill the Application Forms latest by 31st March 2020. CLAT entrance exam will be held in May 2020.
It is a recommended process to check the CLAT 2020 Application Form before applying for the exam. The candidates have to register themselves online. All registration processes began from 1st January 2020.
Candidates can fill the application forms up to 31st March 2020. They have to register their email id and phone number for receiving intimations regarding the CLAT entrance exam schedules.
OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the registered email id and mobile number for verification purposes during the filling of the Application Form.
Any changes or corrections by the candidate is not allowed after the submission of Application Forms. Therefore, all candidates have to fill up the details correctly and they should be of recent.
If the candidate makes any mistake(s) while filling the Application Form, they would have to cancel the application form and apply for a fresh application form. The candidates have to fill the preference form for all 21 NLU’s along with other specified details.
Any change in the list of preferences will not be entertained later. All applicants must upload their recent scanned photo and signature in the prescribe format.
They must take special care while uploading the documents and other details in the PDF format only. There is no need to send any hard copy of the Application Form to the Consortium. Take printouts of the Application from until the admission process is over.

CLAT 2020 Exam Criteria
There is no age limit for the UG programme in CLAT 2020. Candidates must pass the 12th standard or equivalent exam from a recognized Board/ University. A minimum of 45% marks in case of the candidates belonging to unreserved/OBC/specially abled person (SAP) and other categories and 40% marks in case of the candidates belonging to SC or ST categories should be achieved to qualify.
Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2018 also eligible for the appearing in CLAT 2018 online examination. They must produce a proof of their passing of the qualifying exam at the admission time, otherwise they will not be eligible for admission.

CLAT 2020 Exam Process
The application form for CLAT exam is available by online only. The CLAT Application form will be made available from 1st week of January 2020. All applicants have to fill their valid details correctly. The candidates have to produce their valid email id at the online registration time.
After the candidate creates a login id and password, they must upload the scanned documents and copies of their photo, signature and necessary documents. Any type of correction facility is provided by the official authority after the completion of the Application Form.
Applicants must submit the form and take printouts for the admission procedure. An application fee of Rs. 4000/- for the General Category and Rs.3500/- for the SC/ST category candidates. The application fee can be paid online via debit card/credit card.
CLAT 2020 Exam Pattern
The CLAT 2020 exam will be held offline. The entrance exam is of a two hour duration for all candidates. There will be a total of 200 questions for the UG and 150 questions for the PG as multiple choice question format.
Every correct answer will fetch you 1 mark and each wrong answer will be of 0.25 marks deducted from the overall score. The question paper is framed in English only.

Application Process Summarized
Visit the official website. on the Home page click on Apply Online”. Now, click on Click Here for New Registration Tab. Read the Instructional guidelines and click on Continue.
Fill in details like father’s name, mother’s name, email id and phone number. Click on Save & Next Button. A message indicating login details and credentials is generated. Check your email for the login procedure.
Fill the login details appropriately and click on Submit. Upload the specified scanned images and signature. Click the next button. Later on, fill in the details like qualification, category and NLU’s Preference.
Click on Verify your Details and then Save & Next. Review the details entered. Click on Final and take enough printouts for the future.
CLAT 2020 Exam Syllabus
English including comprehension
In the comprehension section candidate will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meaning of words used therein, etc. the grammar section requires correction and incorrect in grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
General knowledge And Current Affairs
The general knowledge will be evaluated on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Question on current affaires will test the candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.
Mathematics
This section will test the candidate’s knowledge of elementary mathematics.
Legal Aptitude
The section will test the candidate’s interest toward the study of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Some preposition may not be “true” in the real sense, candidate will have to assume the “truth” of these prepositions and answer the question accordingly.
Logical Reasoning
It may include the variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogism, logical sequences or analogies etc.
CLAT 2020 Admit Card
All candidates who have registered successfully will be able to download their CLAT Admit Cards via online. Candidates have to download their Admit Card using their login credentials. Candidates be aware, that they will not receive any Admit Card by post or other offline mediums.
They should carry the admit card to the exam centre along with other documents mentioned in the application form guidelines. They can download the Admit Card this year in the second week of May 2020.
The admit card is open for download till the exam date. Concerned authorities will conduct the entrance exam on 10th May 2020.

CLAT 2020 Exam Results
The NTA of Ranchi will declare the results of CLAT 2020 entrance exam online in the 2nd week of June 2020. The CLAT results will be displayed as a scorecard with detailed marks shown. The applicants can check their CLAT exam results by visiting the result portal and logging in using their registered application number and date of birth.
Merit lists are prepared based on the CLAT exam results. All shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling and seat allotment process.

CLAT 2020 Exam Cut Off Marks
CLAT 2020 exam cut off marks would be released tentatively in the 2nd week of June and counselling thereafter. Each candidate should be aware that the participating institutes will have separate criteria for the cut off marks set.
The cut off marks is decided by factors such as seat availability, applications received for admission and many others.
CLAT 2020 Counselling
The National Study of Research and Law will schedule the first round of counselling in the second week of June 2020. The next round will be organized in fourth week of June 2020. All the rounds will be conducted online. Those candidates who received the call letters for counselling will proceed to the Merit List of CLAT 2020.
