UPSEE 2020 OR Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination provides admission to the first year of engineering, architecture, pharmacy, design, management, computer applications, etc. which is organized by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The examination is conducted at state level vide State Govt. Order no. 136/सोलह-1-2020-14(54)/2012 dated 15-01-2020. It also provides admission at lateral entry level in B. Tech, B. Pharma and MCA courses. The scores made in UPSEE/UPTU are taken into consideration by different government and private institutions of U.P. to provide admissions to various courses.
The Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, Technical Education Department, has constituted Central Admission Board (CAB) under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow to supervise and control the State Entrance Examination or UPSEE-2020
CAB has rights for conducting the UPSEE-2020 and decides the modalities of admissions and allotment of seats to the various courses. The jurisdiction of CAB covers colleges/institutes affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow.
The Application Form for UPSEE 2020 has been released from 27th January 2020. The Date of Examination is 10th May 2020

UPSEE 2020 Application Form
The UPSEE application form 2020 was released on 27th January 2020. The following details regarding application form may be noted by the candidates
- The application form is provided via online mode only.
- There will be no printed application form for UPSEE 2020.
- The filling of application form involves various steps like registration, image uploading, fee payment and print confirmation page.
- Scanned images of signature and photograph of candidates have to be uploaded.
- The Confirmation Page need not be sent to the University
Candidates are advised to read the information bulletin before filling the Application Form.
SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
Application Form for UPSEE-2020 can be submitted On-Line only through website http://www.upsee.nic.in from 27th January 2020, 1400 hrs. The Last Date for submitting the On-Line Application Form is 15th March 2020.
ONLINE APPLICATION FORM FILLING PROCEDURE
The On-Line Application Form is self-explanatory. In case of any difficulty in filling up the ON-LINE application form, the candidate may contact at Toll-Free Number 1800-180-0161 or send an email at upsee.helpdesk@aktu.ac.in with the subject line “Seeking Help”.
SIMPLE STEPS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION SUBMISSION
1. Registration (Entering the Personal and other details).
2. To upload Scanned Images of Photograph and Signature.
3. Payment of Examination Fee followed by printing of the “Confirmation Page”.
DOCUMENTS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION FORM SUBMISSION
- Personal Identity Document/Number.
- A personal mobile phone number and a personal E-Mail-id.
- Photograph: The scanned image of his/her recent colour passport size photograph (3.5cm X 4.5cm) in JPEG Format with a maximum size of 100 KB should be clear with the front-facing to the camera showing full face. The photo should have a white or off-white background and uncluttered. The photograph should be in colour with the candidate’s name printed on it. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Applications with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs for use at the time of examination.
- A clear scanned image of his/her signature (3.5 cm x 1.5 cm) in JPEG format with a maximum size of 30 KB UPSEE-2020 Page 21 21.4. Once ready with this he/she may proceed to follow steps.
- Visit the website https://www.upsee.nic.in (Please use the Latest Web Browsers(Mozilla Firefox/Google Chrome/Internet Explorer 10 or above/) and choose the appropriate link as follows for filling up the application form.
REGISTRATION STEPS
- You must fill up all the personal details such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Domicile of your parent, state from where you have passed or appearing in the qualifying examination, Communication details such as an address, mobile phone number, email etc., course Apply details such as qualifying examination detail, subjects in the qualifying examination etc. You are advised to choose paper as per the eligibility, choice of city for examination centre etc. during the filling of the online application form.
- After filling these details, choose “Password” and security question. This Password should be remembered until the admission process is over.
Please note that this Password along with Application Number generated by the system will be required in future to login into the system again.
For making changes in the Application Form, you may click the “EDIT” button at the bottom as necessary.
- After completion of the Application Form, you may submit the application form by clicking the “SUBMIT” button.
On clicking the “SUBMIT” button, a Review page showing all the crucial information filled appears on the screen.
The information may now be checked on the Review Page. To modify some of the information provided in the Application Form, the “EDIT APPLICATION FORM DATA” button may be clicked and the entries in Application Form modified as required and “SUBMIT”.
This process may be repeated as needed.
- After satisfying yourself with all the entries, click the “FINAL SUBMIT” Button to submit the Application Form
It may be noted that when you submit the application form by clicking the “FINAL SUBMIT” button, the On-Line Application Form is finally submitted, and you will not be able to modify/change/edit the entries of your Application Form.
You should click “FINAL SUBMIT” Button when you are fully satisfied with entries on the application form, part of which has been shown on the “Review Page”.
- Before “FINAL SUBMIT” button, the Declaration at the bottom should be read and accepted by ticking the check box named “I agree”.
You will not be able to submit the form if the Declaration is not accepted.
- After Final Submission of the Application Form, Step 1 is completed, and an Application Number is generated by the system. You are required to note this APPLICATION NUMBER for all future correspondences and to be able to Login again.
- Now you may proceed to Step 2. If you wish to complete the step 2 at a later time, please Logout.
- Later on, Login again with your APPLICATION NUMBER and PASSWORD at a convenient time and complete the Step 2 for completing the admission process.
IMAGES UPLOAD
Once Step 1 is completed, then you may proceed now with Step 2 for uploading of the scanned images.
- Upload a clear scanned image of his/ her recent passport size colour photograph (3.5cm X 4.5cm) in JPEG Format with a maximum size of 100 KB. The photograph should show the full face. The photo should have a white or off-white background and should be uncluttered.
- Candidate must upload a clear scanned image of his/her signature (3.5cm X 1.5cm) in JPEG Format with a maximum size of 30KB.
- Please check/review that images that have been uploaded are clear and correct before pressing the “SAVE” button. After “SAVE” button is pressed, the images cannot be changed.
- Therefore, before pressing the “SAVE” button, make it doubly sure that uploaded images are correct and clear.
- If images that have been uploaded are not proper or appears blurred, then you must upload a proper and clear image(s) again.
- Please note that an Application Form with a blurred photograph or signature is liable to be rejected.
- Once you are satisfied with uploaded images, then you may press the “SAVE” button. With the “SAVE” Button pressed, images will be uploaded and no change in the image(s) will be possible.
- You may now proceed to Step 3 for making payment of examination fee. Please logout in case you desire to complete the Step later on. In that case, Login again with your APPLICATION NUMBER and PASSWORD to complete the step 3.
PAYMENT THROUGH DEBIT CARD/CREDIT CARD/NET-BANKING
- Choose appropriate “Mode of Payment” and click the link “Proceed for Payment” to pay the examination fee through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/Wallets. All VISA/Master/Ru Pay cards are accepted.
In addition to UPSEE-2020 examination fee, the bank may charge extra amount as service charge and/or taxes as applicable.
- A payment Transaction Number is generated after making payment. This Transaction Number is required for future correspondence.
- With the successful payment, a link will appear on the screen/page named “Download Confirmation Page”. You must download this “Confirmation Page “by clicking this link and save the “Confirmation Page” for a record.
- You are also advised to take two copies or print-outs of this “Confirmation page” and keep them preserved for record and future communication. Now your application form is complete. You may log out.
- This “Confirmation Page” which also carries the Application Number” is not to be sent to the University/UPSEE-2020 office.
- In order to view your Application Form later, you must Login again at the website http://www.upsee.nic.in with your Application Number and Password. But your application form cannot be edited or modified later.
- You will not be able to download the “Confirmation Page” if the transaction failed for some reason.
- If you are unable to download the “Confirmation page” and your account is debited, it means that transaction could not be updated at NIC server of UPSEE-2020.
- Failure to download the “Confirmation page”, indicates that your transaction has failed, and you are required to make the Payment of Examination Fee again and download the confirmation page as explained before.
- The Examination Fee amount on account of failed transactions, which could not be updated on NIC Server of UPSEE-2020, will be automatically refunded by the Bank after Reconciliation. It will be credited to the account from which the payment was made through your debit card/ credit card / Net Banking.
- If the amount debited against the failed transaction is not refunded to your account within FIVE DAYS, you may send an email to upsee.helpdesk@aktu.ac.in. by providing the following:
- Subject: Failed Transaction. The following may be mentioned in your mail.
- A) Your Application Number
- B) Transaction Number
- C) Date of Birth, and
- D) Aadhar Number
Note: Please do not send the hard copy /soft copy/print-out of the Confirmation Page or any other document to the University at this stage.

Application Fee:
- The application fee for UPSEE is Rs. 1300/- for Male/Transgender Candidates belonging to General/OBC Category and Rs. 650/- for Female/SC/ST/PwD Category.
- The fee is required to be paid via online mode only.
- The application fee can be paid through debit card, credit card, net banking and e-wallets.
Application Form Correction
- The correction facility for UPSEE application form will be provided by the university through online mode.
- Corrections will be done only during the correction window starting from 27th March to 15th April 2020
- Corrections will be permitted only in some particular fields.
ADMIT CARD
Admit card will be available online for download from the website http://www.upsee.nic.in by the candidate. Downloaded admit is the valid admit card.
The candidates should check the details given on the admit cards with regard to their category, sub-category, gender, rural weightage, Name, Father’s Name etc. as mentioned on the Admit Card.
All or any candidate without the admit card will not be allowed to appear in the examination.
If there is difficulty in downloading the admit card, the candidate should contact the helpline as indicated on the website http://www.upsee.nic.inor send an email to the mail address upsee.helpdesk@aktu.ac.in latest by 30thApril 2020.
A plea by the candidate that he/she failed to receive the intimation for appearing at the Examination will not be accepted as a ground for the refund of fee or for any other redressal.
The permission to appear in UPSEE-2020 granted by mistake to a candidate, not eligible to appear at the UPSEE-2020 may be withdrawn despite the fact that the issued Admit Card has been produced by the candidate before the concerned Centre Superintendent at the Examination Centre.
In case of any reported correction, the final corrected admit card will have to be downloaded from website http://www.upsee.nic.in or https://aktu.ac.in before the date of the examinations.
The successful candidates have to produce the Admit Card at the time of counselling and admission. It should therefore be carefully preserved until the admission process is completed.
EXAMINATION DETAILS
UPSEE 2020 Exam will be conducted offline in the objective style with multiple type questions barring the Drawing Aptitude Test.
The exam will be of 3 hour duration.
The candidates need to opt for papers and subjects for appearing in the entrance examination as per their eligibility criteria mentioned above. All papers are OMR based Test only.
SCORING STYLE
(1) All objective type questions should be answered on a specially designed OMR answer sheet against the respective question number. Only one choice for the correct answer should be in each question.
(ii) Every objective question would carry four/ five marks (B. Arch) marks for each correct answer. More than one answer indicated against the question will be deemed as incorrect answer and no marks are awarded for the incorrect answer.
(iii) There will be no negative marking. However, a separate record of incorrect answers of the candidate will be kept.
(iv) The Answers in OMR based examination should be marked with the ballpoint pen (Black / Blue) only.
During evaluation of these papers, the details filled in by the candidate in the OMR answer sheet will be treated as final.

MEDIUM & MODE OF EXAMINATION & EVALUATION
All question papers (except part B of paper-3) will have objective multiple-choice questions. All the answers from Paper 1 to Paper 8 will be evaluated by OMR methodology.
All question papers for undergraduate admissions (except Part B paper-3) will be in Hindi and English both, but in case of any ambiguity, the English version shall be considered final.
The candidates appearing in the UPSEE-2020 have the option to answer part B of Paper-3 either in English or Hindi. However, the Standard English numerals must be used in all the cases.
UPSEE 2020 Syllabus
For UG courses, the syllabus will be of 10+2 standard and for PG courses the graduation level syllabus will be followed.
B. Tech courses: Topics from physics, chemistry and mathematics subjects.
B. Pharma Program: Topics asked from physics, chemistry and biology subjects.
PG courses: The syllabus will cover respective graduation subjects.
Candidates should prepare for the examination as per the officially prescribed syllabus released along with the information bulletin.
EVALUATION & DECLARATION OF RESULTS
UPSEE 2020 results will be declared in the second week of June 2020.
The performance of candidates will be the criteria for preparing the merit list of UPSEE 2020 examination. Merit position and scorecard with total marks obtained will be put up on the website after the declaration of results.
If two candidates score equal marks, then inter-state merit of the candidates will be determined as follows:
First by the percentage of incorrect answers given. A candidate with less percentage of incorrect answers will be placed at higher merit.
Second by:
B.Tech./MCA(Integrated)/ M Tech (Integrated): By considering the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, sections of Paper 1 respectively and then by age.
B.Pharm: By considering the marks obtained in Biology, Chemistry sections of Paper 2 respectively and then by age.
B Arch: By taking into account the marks obtained in Drawing Aptitude, Mathematics & Aesthetics sensitivity section of Paper 3 respectively and then by age.
B.Tech.(Bio-Tech.): Same as applicable in B.Tech./B.Pharm B Des/BHMCT/BFAD/BFA/ B Voc/ MBA/MBA(Integrated)/MCA/Lateral entry *By age only.
Note: Candidate having higher age will be placed at higher merit.
Thirdly, by the application number. One which is in the lowest application will be placed higher in merit.
UPSEE/UPTU Cut Off 2020
The qualifying cut off level for UPSEE examination will be 25% for general candidates and 20% for SC/ST candidates. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the cut-off criteria.
It is necessary to score the qualifying cut-off to clear the UPSEE examination.
Candidates will be called for counselling as per their merit in UPSEE-2020 by giving intimation through Newspapers and website. However, the allotment of seat shall be based on the availability of the seats on the day of counselling.
