Anna University organizes the admission process of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions every year. Yearly admission into various engineering institutions situated in the state of Tamil Nadu is provided on the basis of marks of 10+2 level and counselling organized by the University.

TNEA provides admission to undergraduate programmes of B.E and B. Tech to a number of colleges in Tamil Nadu, that accept TNEA scores as a primary factor in engineering programmes.

TNEA 2020 Application Form

TNEA 2020 has officially released a notification in the last week of April 2020 about the TNEA exam criteria. TNEA 2020 Application Form provides the candidates, complete information about the schedule and process of applying to the exam:

  • Students can visit online in the first week of May 2020 for filling the TNEA Application Form as per their choice.
  • TNEA 2020 Application Form includes Online Registration by filling details such as Registration details, Filling the Application form, Payment of Application Fee and sending of application form with the required documents.
  • Only a single application form is available for various courses and colleges for the candidates to apply.
  • The last date for filling of application form and submission with supporting documents is the First Week of July 2020.
  • No modifications or corrections will be allowed in the Application Form and so candidates have to fill in their details correctly.
  • The Application form with all details filled must be submitted before the last date along with supporting documents to the address mentioned below:

Documents to Be Enclosed with The Application Form

  • Passed certificates of 10th and 12th Mark sheets.
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Permanent community certificate
  • 12th Class Hall Ticket
  • Certificates obtained as First graduate certificate and first graduate joint declaration
  • Nativity certificate (If applicable)
  • Sri-Lankan Tamil Refugee certificate
  • Relevant documents showing proof of Army personnel


Application Fee

Candidates are given options for paying the application form by debit card/credit card or even net-banking within the given time.

  • For General candidates – Rs.500
  • For ST/SC/SCA candidates – Rs.250

TNEA Application Form

It is mandatory for all candidates to read the brochure completely and fill in the application form as instructed in the guidelines enclosed within. The registration process for TNEA can be done online by the interested candidates.

Application Forms for B.E/B. Tech begins from the 1st Week of May 2020. Candidates can easily download the application from, from the university’s website. The application form requires a registration process that needs all mandatory fields to be filled in by the relevant candidate.

The candidate can apply for only one application form for all courses/colleges/institutes irrespective of the category defined.

Steps to Fill the Application Form

Step-1: Visit Official Website

  • Go to the official website Link. 
  • Open the link in new tab.
  • Click on ‘Click Here to New User Registration for TNEA 2020 tab under the home page of the University website.
  • Step-2: Registration
  • Fill in your registration details.
  • Enter your eligibility criteria, personal & special reservation information.
  • Hit the OTP and click on ‘Register’.
  • After that you will be get a message in your registered email ID & mobile number.
  • Verify your all registration details & click on the “OK” button.

Step-3: Payment

  • Login with your USER ID and enter password.
  • Enter the verification code and click on ‘login’ button.
  • Enter the mandatory details and click on ‘OK’ button.
  • A message stating that you can’t edit the entered data, once you have paid for on the website will be sent to your email address/ mobile number.
  • Hit the ‘Confirm’ button and proceed to pay the fee.
  • Choose any one of the available modes of payment.
  • Enter your payment details and click the’ Pay’ button.
  • A message saying your payment is successful and submitted will be sent to your email id/phone number.

Step-4: Fill Personal Details

  • “Proceed to Personal Page” button after the fees has been paid in full.
  • Next, enter your personal details such as your name, father’s name, gender, category, DOB, mobile number, email Id, etc.
  • Click on submit button.
  • Check all the filled details & click on “OK” button.

Step-5: Fill Academic Details

  • Move to the ‘Proceed to Academic Page’ button after entering your basic information.
  • Enter the academic details such as School of Study & Qualifying Exam information.
  • Click on ‘Submit’ button.
  • Preview all the details & click on “OK” button.

Step-6: Application View

  • Preview your filed-in application form.
  • To print, click on ‘Download Application’.
  • Keep printouts of the filled application form ready for later use.
  • Logout from the submit application window.

TNEA 2020 Exam Dates

The Application Form’s last date to be submitted will be in Last week of May 2020.

Candidates are assigned random numbers based on their successful submission of the Application Form by the university. Random numbers are allotted in the 1st week of June 2020.

TNEA 2020 Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must go through the TNEA Eligibility Criteria before proceeding with the submission of application forms.

Nativity

  • Candidates who have passed their 10+2 level exams from schools located in Tamil Nadu can apply.
  • Candidates who are from other states (i.e. not from Tamil Nadu) can apply by showing their Nativity Certificate only in the form of digitally signed E-Certificate or Electronic Form.
  • Those who are children of Central Government Employees are also eligible for admission.
  • Candidates from other states who have completed their 10+2 level from Tamil Nadu state are eligible.

Qualification Criteria

  • Candidates applying must have passed their 12th level exam or its equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
  • Candidates must pass their HSC exam with a minimum of 50% marks (For OBC – 45% and For ST/SC/DNC/MBC/SCA – 40%).
  • Candidates must have passed his 10+2 level with the subjects of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
  • Candidate must have passed his/her 10+2 level exam or its equivalent from a Recognized Board for undergoing Marine Engineering courses.
  • He/she must pass his 10+2 level with Mathematics, PhysicsChemistry and English as the main subjects.
  • Candidate must pass PCM subjects with a minimum average of 60% and 50% in English.
  • Candidates who apply should be of maximum 25 years.

TNEA 2020 Admit Card

The admit card will be available online. None of the candidates will receive any admit card through offline mode via post or courier.

Candidates have to enter their login details like application number and password to download the Admit Card.

The admit card should contain the following:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Address details
  • Category
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Photograph of the candidate
  • Signature of the candidate
  • Date of exam
  • Important instructions
  • Venue of the examination hall
  • Reporting time

Admit card from Anna University will be released in June 2020. Prime essentials of the exam entry is the Admit Card. Without this Admit Card, the student cannot enter the examination hall.

 A step by step procedure for checking your Admit Card is illustrated below:

  • Visit the official website. 
  • Select the ‘Click Here’ tab on the Home page.
  • A notice with instructions would appear on your screen for viewing.
  • Click the ‘Click here for Admit card’ link.
  • Hit the ‘Submit’ button, after submitting all details.
  • Take printouts of the Admit card in PDF format for the future.

Documents to be produced in the Exam Centre:

Candidates have to bring one of the photo identification’s proof along with the Anna University Admit card 2020 downloaded:

  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID Card
  • Driving License
  • Aadhaar Card
  • School/ College Identity Card.

Instructions area for Students

  • Students Admit Card should contain details such as candidates name, photograph, roll number, exam date & time, exam centre and many more.
  • Candidates should reach the examination hall at least half an hour before the exam begins.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without proper Admit card and a Valid Id-Proof.
  • Candidates should take care that they do not bring any unnecessary item in the exam hall.
  • Candidates should not carry mobile phone, electronic wrist watch, study material, electronic gadget, calculator, log tables, etc. to the exam hall.
  • No courier or post or any other offline source will be used to send the Admit Card.
  • It is a recommended practice to follow the instructions laid out on the Admit Card.
  • Candidates should follow the instructions as laid out in the admit card.

TNEA 2020 Cut-Off

The University releases the cut-off for TNEA once the registration process gets over. There would be separate cut off marks for different programmes and different colleges.  Candidates must qualify with minimum cut off marks to get admitted to various courses.

TNEA 2020 Merit List

Merit List for TNEA 2020 will be released in the third week of June 2020. Applicants can view their overall rank and community rank from the official website.

Counselling is purely conducted on the base of merit list prepared by the relevant University. Shortlisted candidates who have qualified through merit ranks are eligible for the counselling process.

TNEA 2020 Counselling

Counselling for TNEA 2020 is organised in the first week of July 2020.  Candidates can participate in the counselling process on the basis of ranks only. Call Letter must be downloaded before entering the counselling hall.

Five rounds of Counselling conducted to select the most eligible candidate. All qualified candidates must carry their supporting documents for the verification step.

DoTE Tamil Nadu will release the TNEA 2020 Counselling schedule. B. Tech aspirants need to check for counselling process listed by the department for qualified candidates to appear. Ranks and aggregate marks decide the future for candidates in the counselling process.

TNEA 2020 Entrance Exam Preparation Tips

Applicants should divide time for covering each topic and or syllabus in full. A time table is necessary to learn part by part for the exam.

Ensure that the subjects you prepare for are as indicated in the exam syllabus. Allot more time to the subjects you are weak at.

Learn from study books and materials prepared by reputed authors to score well in any exam. Crack the terms with a go get will attitude.

Try being a book worm at the study time and learn to be prepared at all times for any type of exam you apply for. Get familiarized with previous years question papers and exam patterns.

Solving last years question papers can acquaint you with answering questions within a definite time limit. It is advised to practice mock tests and practice papers to make concepts clearer and memorable.

Complete your studying of syllabus on time for revising enough on topics of the exam covered.

Be prepared with two-day revision process ahead of the exam. This helps you prepare for important topics included in the syllabus.

Eat healthy food and go for a stroll each day to keep your mind fresh and alert. Eat a balanced diet with enough nutrients, fruits and vegetables for sharper mind and improved concentration.

Practice yoga and sleep for at least 8 hours a day for being healthy and wise.
