What is BSc. Nuclear Medicine Technology?
BSc. Nuclear Medicine Technology is an undergraduate (UG) level course program. It is a diagnostic medical imaging and treatment specialty. It includes elements of Applied Anatomy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Computing with patient well care and skills. Radioactive tracers are administered to patients in order to diagnose or treat related disease.
Nuclear Medicine Technology may vary from other imaging techniques such as X-ray and CT in terms of its potential to provide minute information about the function of the systems in the human body. Moreover, as imaging technology advances, close correlation with radiological techniques is very essential. The main use of these radioactive tracers is closely monitored. These techniques are safe for the patient and for the nuclear medicine technologist.
Nuclear Medicine Technologists can advance within the field by developing on the relevant skills and knowledge. Enhanced roles in the area includes conducting cardiac stress testing, reporting and teaching. Technologists may also be promoted to several management roles. In addition with various, career job opportunities exist within the education industry for experienced nuclear technologists.
