What is Bachelor of Siddha-BSMS?
B.S.M.S (Bachelor of Siddha) is an undergraduate (UG) level program in Siddha System of Medicine, which is one among the most oldest course with the (Ayurvedha, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) frames structure. By indicating of the Siddha reasoning, the mental and physiological elements of human body are contains by SEVEN components – saram (plasma), cheneer (blood), ooun (muscle), kozhuppu (fat), elumbu (bone), moolai (nerve) and inthiriyam (semen). These seven components are initiated by three forms such as Mukkuttram – vatha (air), pitha (fire/warmth /vitality) and kapha (water). The lopes of any of these Mukkuttram brings about malady and Siddha System of Medicine revises the vitiated Mukkuttram for solid life.
One who try to become a Doctor, yet not ready to pursue a M.B.B.S. degree would prefer most partly toward B.D.S., B.H.M.S., B.A.M.S., B.U.M.S., B.S.M.S., or B.N.Y.S. The duration of B.S.M.S. course in India is 5.5 years long whereas the period of 4.5 years is of classroom study and ONE year of practice for entry level position. After the successful completion of the program, aspirants are qualified to prefix “Dr.” before their name and they are said to be called as a Doctor. B.S.M.S. course is directed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), which is the statutory peak body working under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH.
Siddha medicine is one of the traditional means of Indian medicine systems. The word Siddha traditionally means acquiring knowledge and those who have acquired enough knowledge in Siddha medicine are known as Siddhars or Siddha Doctors or Siddha Specialists. It is said that this branch of medicine is formed a contribution of eighteen Siddha specialists.

The duration of Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (B.S.M.S.) course program is about 5 ½ years. Four and a half years are directed towards classroom session classes and the other 1 year is for the internship.
Bachelor of Siddha-BSMS: Eligibility Criteria
The students must have successfully completed 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination from the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary State Board in their first attempt to apply for B.S.M.S. course. For students lies under SC / ST categories. The minimum percentage of marks is about 40 – 55%.
