What is Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology?
Speech-language pathology is the pathological science of speech and language referred as speech therapy. It mainly relays under the communication sciences and disorder discipline, which also involves the study of audiology.

• Social communication disorders occur when a person has trouble with the words used in the form of verbal and nonverbal communication. These type of disorders may relate problems in communicating for social purposes, and following rules for conversation and story-telling. All individuals with spectrum disorder have social communication problems. Social communication disorders are also found in individuals with different type conditions, such as t brain injury damage or brain tumour as such.
• Swallowing disorders are providing food and swallowing difficulties, which may follow an sickness, surgery, stroke, or injury.
Skills Required for Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology candidates
- Have a good Communication with patients to find out their levels of speech or language difficulty
- Examine the communication problems by having a patient complete basic reading and finding tasks or by giving standardized exams
- Identify what treatment to choose.
- Develop and make over an individualized treatment plan
- While treating patients, speech-language pathologists typically do these things:
- Will tell patients how to make sounds and improve their way of noises
- Teach them different type of communication methods, such as by using a sign , to patients who have little or no speech capability
- Have a look and work hard with patients to improve their skills to read and write correctly
- Work hard with them to develop and strengthen the muscles which is used to swallow
- Make the patients and families very clear on how to overcome with communication disorders
- Communication skills. Speech-language pathologists need to communicate examine results, diagnoses the problems, and proposed treatments in a way that patients and their families are able to understand.
- Compassion. Speech-language pathologists work with people who are very much distracted by their difficulties. Speech-language pathologists will have to be supportive both emotionally and calmly with demanding patients and their families.
- Critical-thinking skills. Speech-language pathologists should be able to cope up with their treatment plans as needed, finding different methods to help their patients.
- Detail oriented. The main aim of speech-language pathologists requires very keen concentration because they must watch the patients with very much care and listen to what patients are able to say and then help them to improve the way of speaking
- Listening skills. Speech-language pathologists must hear to a patients symptoms and think about the problems to decide on a course of treatment.
- Patience. Speech-language pathologists will work with people who have a mind of achieving goals slowly and should have a keen attention on them.

Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology: Duration
Bachelor in Speech-Language Pathology is a 4-years, full-time undergraduate (UG) level professional course program, The course is normally divided into 6 semesters, each semester has the period of 6 months and the other 2 semesters of internship.
Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology: Eligibility Criteria
Students who are willing to apply for the course need to have the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Higher Secondary (10+2) qualification, in the Science branch, completed from a recognized educational Board.
- A minimum aggregate marks scored should be of 50% and whereas 45% for SC/ST/OBC at the 10+2 level.
- Physics, Chemistry, Math/ Biology should be main subjects in the study at the 10+2 level.
- Students who are waiting for their 10+2 examination’s results are also eligible to apply on provisional basis.

Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology: Admission Process
