(NLSIU), National Law School of India University was founded under the Act of (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). The University is situated in Nagarbhavi about 10kms away from the City Railway Station. NLSIU Bangalore became a fully residential university in 1991. Since then it has three residence halls for men and women along with two hostels for postgraduate women students, three blocks for faculty headquarters and two blocks for staff quarters. The prominence and prestige of the university come with the fact that its chancellor is The Chief Justice of India. Pragathi Vidya Samsthe was started in the year 1984-85. It was registered under Karnataka State Society Act under the name and style of Indira Priyadarshini College of Law. Government of Karnataka sanctioned permission to start 3 years Law Course in the year 1994-95. The Priyadarshini College of Law was granted affiliation by Bangalore University and approved by Bar Council of India. During the year 1997-98, it has 5 years Integrated Law Course affiliation by Bangalore University and approved by Bar Council of India. During the year 2008-09, 3 years Law Course and 5 years Integrated Law Course was granted affiliation by Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi and approved by Bar Council of India, New Delhi.

The College also gives preference admission to SC/ST and BC’s minorities and economically backward students. The College is situated at a distance of 12 kms from City Railway Station/City Bus Stand. The College is located amidst calm atmosphere and serenial environment making it an ideal place for learning with accesibility to both public and private transport system. Good coaching and instructions by qualified teachers are made available to the students.Till now 18 batches of Students have passed out from the College and have entered various careers in Legal Profession namely as Judges, Magistrates, Govt. Pleaders, Public Prosecuters, legal advisors to financial & non-financial institutions.

Christ University was started as a college called Christ College in 1969. It is administrated by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Catholic Congression founded by an educationalist and social reformer, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara in 1831. The college was established based on his educational vision. University Grants Commission gave the university an autonomous title in 2004. In the year 2006 the Christ University was identified as an Institution with Potential for Excellence. The college was declared as “Deemed To Be University” by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2008.

University of Mysore, [UOM] started its functioning on July 27, 1916, which is located in Mysore. It is the first state university in Karnataka. It is the first university of the country to be founded outside the limits of the British India. It was the first University which is accredited by NAAC in 2000.
