The All India Institute of Medical Sciences[AIIMS], Mangalagiri which is just 12(twelve) Kms far from Vijayawada, is facing lack of funds for the construction. The central government did not allocate any funds for the construction in the latest budget.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas declared recently that the central government is planned to invite tenders for the construction of AIIMS at Rs.1800 cr. So far the levelling of land is done in the 193 acres .
The central government declared that it would set up the premier institute at Mangalagiri at the time of bifurcation to render better medical services to the public of the region. Union Minister J.P Naidu laid the foundation stone on 23 December 2015. Since the foundation there have not been any construction commenced. There was no masterplan framed for the construction.
According to the sources, the buildings would be ready within 2 years once the construction begins. The central government would appoint nurses, doctors and other medical staff needed for the hospital. A medical college attached to the AIIMS will be beguned. Well -experienced professors will be appointed in the medical college attached to AIIMS. P.G medical courses, super specialty courses also likely to start in the institute.
It would be really lucky for this region if the construction is finished in the estimated period as there are a lot of candidates who wants to opt Medicine and stay in the region.
