The IIIT, Kottayam is an engineering institute which is autonomous in nature. It is one among the 20 Indian Institutes of Information Technology that were started by the Indian government’s Ministry of Human Resource Development. IIIT Kottayam was set up in 2017 under the Public Private Partnership method. IIIT Kottayam was declared as an Institute in the year 2017. This was done by the IIIT PPP Bill in the year 2017. This IIIT institute has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
At present, IIIT Kottayam functions from its permanent campus in Kottayam District of the state of Kerala. It is located in the serene and beautiful. IIIT Kottayam is striving towards becoming one among the topmost college of engineering in India. It has formulated a plan to keep the authorities functioning smoothly so that young students can avail as many benefits as possible. IIIT Kottayam follows a rigorous curriculum to train its young students in the best way possible. It also hosts many fests and activities for young students to showcase their talents and best abilities. The institute also promotes the overall development of students so that they can grow up to become very much talented, high knowledgeable individuals with a plethora of best skills.

Few of the facilities offered by the college include:
Hostel: Separate hostel accommodation is offered for boys and girls. There is one large hostel for boys and girls. All the hostels have common rooms. Round the clock water and electricity are offered. Laundry types of equipment are also available.
Internet: The campus is well equipped with an internet bandwidth of over 1 Gbps with Wifi access. At present, there are 220 systems with wired connectivity, and well sufficient access points are offered for wireless connectivity.
Gymnasium: IIIT Kottayam has a well-equipped gymnasium that includes Spinning Bike, Treadmill, and Elliptical Cross Trainer. Students can avail of the facilities of the gym.
Medical Facility: IIIT-Kottayam students have the access to round the clock. A fully well equipped ambulance handles all the emergency cases. Medical facilities are available and given vital importance and each student is given complete care.

IIITM-Kottayam has been chosen as an Institution of best excellence of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India for studying M.Sc in Information technology. Scholarships are available to all students admitted to M.Sc. in IT. Scholarship covers tuition fee and lodging & boarding charges of over Rs.2220 per month; books grant of RS.3000 per annum and a laptop during the entire course of study.
