Coimbatore Institute of Technology, [CIT] Coimbatore was established in the year 1956 by V. Rangasamy Naidu Educational Trust devoted to the cause of promoting technical and scientific literacy. It is a government-aided autonomous college.
The Institute strives to inculcate a sound knowledge in engineering along with realized social responsibilities to enable its students to combat the current and impending challenges faced by our country and to extend their expertise to the global arena. It aims imparting high quality education and training to its students to make them World-class engineers.
CIT offers 7 Under Graduate Academic Programmes, 9 Post Graduate Academic Programmes, 3 Five Year Integrated M.Sc. Programmes in addition to Ph.D. Research Programmes. Presently, 8 Engineering Diploma Programmes are offered by the polytechnic in various engineering disciplines.
CIT is one of the most reputed and prestigious educational institutions in South India since 1956. The Institute backed by World Class research and development attained autonomous status in 1987 and is affiliated to the Anna University.

The B.E/B. Tech programme is offered by Coimbatore Institute of Technology across 12 specializations in full-time mode. It has a total of 700 seats available for the B. E/B. Tech programme and admission to the course is based on Class 12 merit followed by TNEA Counseling.
TNEA Counseling 2020 is a single-window process for admission to B. E/B. Tech programmes offered in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges, including Coimbatore Institute of Technology. Candidates must note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped and so seats are allotted in TNEA through the merit list. The merit list for this entrance exam is based on Class 12 score scaled to 200.

CIT groom the students so they are well prepared for the corporate world and to enhance their employability. The Placement Cell provides state of the art infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews. The Placement Cell has a library and a communication lab to enhance the students’ general aptitude and communication skills.
A large number of national and multinational companies visit the Institute every year for Campus recruitment. The cell also co-ordinates the pre-placement activities of sophomore and junior students, and motivates aspiring students to pursue Higher studies with facilities for preparing competitive exams like GATE, TOEFL, GRE, CAT, GMAT etc.
The “Placement Cell” also strives to enhance self employment which is supported by the government by extending financial assistance through banking sector.

Mostly all the faculty members in the college were experienced ones and many of them were holding doctorates. They teach and give notes which were enough for the exam preparations and also gave the students the quality author books for reference and preparations.
The students can choose the faculty members and subjects. Many extracurricular clubs like NSS, NCC, RSP, YRC, Tamizh Mandram, Rotaract, dramatic, music, and sports were functioning on campus.
Friendly environment with decent, green and clean campus provides a happy enthusiastic college experience. Students and faculty members are given WI-FI connection inside campus. A large library meets students’ demand and much more. Hostels are well maintained and mess provides fresh delicious food to students.
