Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences at Coimbatore was established in 1986 aiming at raising professionals and leaders of high academic calibre and commitment to serve humanity by fulfilling the vision of its founders Late Dr. D. G. S. Dhinakaran and the present Chancellor Dr. Paul Dhinakaran. The self financing College was granted an autonomous status in 1999 and declared Deemed-to-be University by the University Grants Commission in recognition of its academic excellence in 2004.
Accredited by NAAC, the institution offers a wide array of Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degree programmes in various branches of Engineering, Biotechnology, Food processing and Agricultural Sciences. Currently, the institution is home to 8491 students and 452 members of faculty representing 18 academic departments.
Over the years, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences has made significant contribution towards teaching learning, research and consultancy, innovation and transfer of technology, community service and value education. The institution is currently engaged in finding solutions to problems in the four major areas such as Water, Food, Healthcare, and Energy through scientific and technological interventions.

Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences with a modern infrastructure is equipped with gallery classrooms and well equipped laboratories. The Institute has nationally acclaimed laboratories for Water research and Food Processing.
Computer laboratories are equipped with high-end resources. Centres of excellence are established in partnership with Siemens Limited, Cisco Systems, Novell India Pvt Limited, IBM, Salzer Electronics Limited and the Lancet Commission.
Computer Technology Centre (CTC), a centralized computing facility of the Institute provides world-class computing, network and educational technology support for the academic and research community of KITS. A separate Storage Area Network is available for data storage. CTC is well-equipped with licensed software for academic and administrative needs.
An Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell) is established foster entrepreneurship among the students. It is run by students and driven by the management of the institute.
Karunya being a residential University, students are housed in thirteen different, well-furnished hostels within the campus with all the necessary facilities. These include a hospital, a bank, utility stores, Xerox shops and photo studios.
KITS takes pride in having an excellent infrastructure for sports and games. The University has a newly constructed indoor auditorium meant for shuttle badminton, table tennis and carom. The eligibility for B.E./B. Tech course is pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of 12th class with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as three or four subjects of the study or any other examination of any university or authority accepted by Anna University as equivalent thereto.
Candidates for admission to the first semester of the master’s degree programme should have passed an appropriate degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by Anna University equivalent thereto.
Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, admission 2020 is based on the entrance exam namely Karunya Entrance Examination (KEE). It is conducted by the institute for admitting candidates to all UG courses of Engineering, Science and Arts.

Faculty members here are very helpful and are very good. Labs are very good here, and the quality of the machines provided is excellent. Hostel facilities are fair. However, 2nd, 3rd and 4th-year hostels are good with more space.
There is free Wi-Fi for every student in the hostel and also in the classrooms. The students can also rectify the doubts by going to the library whenever they want. There are large farms and a farmhouse in the college for the agricultural department.
