Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC), Coimbatore was established in the year 1994 by SNR Sons Charitable Trust as one of the 17 institutions managed by the trust. SREC is an autonomous institution from 2013.
The College aims at developing into a leading world class Technological University consisting of Schools of Excellence in various disciplines with a co-existent Centre for Engineering Solutions Development for world-wide clientele.
SREC offers 11 Undergraduate programmes, seven Post Graduate programmes in Engineering and Technolog in addition to MBA. Approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College Coimbatore is affiliated to Anna University.
The College is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and seven of the B.E/ B.Tech programmes has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, since 2003.
The institution is currently home to 4400 plus students mentored by 271 faculty members of whom 104 are holding Ph.D, with 105 pursuing Ph. D.
The departments are closely working with the industries such as L&T, Bi-Metal Bearings, Roots Industries, Tech Mahindra and other companies on Consultancy, Management development programmes and collaborative projects. The areas of collaboration include Machine Vision Systems, Finite Element Analysis, 3D Printing, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Predictive Analytics, Virtual instrumentation etc.
A full range of required infrastructure has been established by the College to support research and development, including well-equipped laboratories, specialized equipment, and campus wide networking, high – speed internet access and subscription to hundreds of print and online journals.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, SREC campus sprawls across 49 acres. The College has Ergonomic class rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and a well-stacked library. and well equipped laboratories and workshops.
The new Library block is located in the Administrative Block stocks 83120 volumes and 36975 titles of books and 380 e- books. It also subscribes to 271 International Journals, 64 National Journals, 180 Magazines and 27 Digital Resources.
Separate hostel facilities are available for male and female students with the capacity of 2300. Each hostel has facilities of 24X7 water and regularly maintained water purifiers for drinking water. The hostel is wifi enabled and the mess serves vegetarian and non vegetarian menu.
A fully functional health centre with a residential doctor is in place to offer medical care for minor ailments and first aid to the students.
The College has facilities for Indoor and outdoor games, in house store and on-campus banking on Tuesdays and Fridays through the extension counter of South Indian Bank, NGGO Colony Branch and an ATM at the entrance of the College.
The college has a fleet of 30 buses tforthe transportation of the students from vantage points in and around Coimbatore to the campus and back.
A Computer Maintenance Cell (CMC) is functioning to maintain the computers, network management and printers through in-house management.

For B.E./B. Tech, the applicant should pass 10+2 from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% for General, 45% for OC, and 40% for SC/ST/MBC/BC average in all relevant papers.
The minimum eligibility marks for various categories for M.E. / M.Tech Degree Courses are a ‘Pass’ in recognized bachelor’s degree obtaining at least 50% of the qualifying examination (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category). Candidates who pass in the qualifying degree course will appear for TANCET Exam.or MAT/GATE.
