Established in the year 1986, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences is known after Dr. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state. Also named as NTRUHS, this state university has been recognised by various statutory bodies like University Grants Commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI), Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH),Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), and Indian Nursing Council (INC).
This University has 298 affiliated colleges that provide a vast range of UG, PG, diploma and super specialty courses. Apart from these courses, it also provides doctoral programmes in both full-time and part-time mode. The courses impart education, training and research in majorly in the sector of Allopathic and Ancient Indian Systems of Medicine, Physiotherapy, Modern Medicine and allied Health Sciences like Dentistry, Nursing and Paramedical.
