Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Institute of Science and Technology University, West Campus [PRIST] is dedicated to the communication, expansion, and integration of knowledge through excellent academic programs. Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Institute of Science and Technology (PRIST University) is a premier deemed-to-be University located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1985 by Prof. P Murugesan and was initially known as Computer Science and Technology. PRIST University has five campuses in Trichy, Kumbakonam, Puducherry, Chennai, and Madurai. It is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘B’ grade and recognised by Government of Tamil Nadu. The deemed-to-be University is also approved by the University Grants Commision (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture (CoA), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Bar Council of India (BCI) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
The University offers undergraduate programmes such as BTech, BSc, BCA, BA, BSc, BBA, BCom, BArch, BOpt and BPharm, postgraduate programmes such as MTech, MCA, MSc, MA and MBA and PhD at doctorate level in streams such as Medicine, Engineering, Arts, Science, Management, Technology, Pharmacy, and many more. It also offers several courses in Distance Education (DE) mode recognised by the Distance Education Council, IGNOU, New Delhi. The deemed-to-be University offers education under eight schools.
PRIST University hourses a wide variety of centres for the growth and development of the students such as Centre for Development of Teaching & Learning (CDTL), Centre for Knowledge Management (CKM), PRSIT Assessment Centre (PAC), Centre for Information Technology Integration (CITI) and Innovation Incubation Entrepreneurship (IIE). It consists of a Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC), also known as PRSIT Central Library, which is a hub to the best collection of books, magazines, journals and other e-resources. Spread across an area of 50 acre, the deemed-to-be University also offers unlimited access to basic amenities such as a student services center, health center, yoga center, gym, cafeteria, hostel, playground, transport, museum and an art gallery.
