The University College of Engineering was established in the year 2000 and the institution is fast acquiring a reputation for high-quality education and fabulous faculty-student rapport. It is functioning in the Golden Jubilee Complex of the Kerala University in the Kariavattom campus. The college is affliated to the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. The University College of Engineering Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram which was earlier called the University of Travancore was established in 1937. The university has 227 affiliated colleges. of which, 64 are Arts and Science colleges. They include 10 Government Colleges, 37 aided and 17 unaided institutions. The University is taking initiatives to impart soft skills like communication skills (verbal and nonverbal) and analytical skills as per industry requirements.
The University College of Engineering functions with the many order of discipline so that all candidates are well trained to excel in highly professional environments. The students of various departments organize national level technical symposiums. University College of Engineering, has very good infrastructure with good facilities like Library, Auditorium, Canteen, Wi-Fi, Health Centre, Seminar hall, Bank Facility, etc.
The college library has around 15000 books and 38 journals (national and international journals).
It is the first automated library among several Engineering College Libraries in Kerala.
The entire campus is fully Wi-Fi Enabled.
A co-operative society is functioning inside the campus which includes office equipment, stationary items, consumables, etc.
Xerox Machine and STD Telephone booth are also available on the campus.
A Branch of State bank is functioning in front of the campus.
Medical Facility is also available for all the students on the campus.
