Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham was established under section 3 of UGC act of 1956 as a Deemed University. The University is a multi-disciplinary research academia. The University is ranked as one of the best research institutions in India. Govt. of India has awarded Institution of Eminence status to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham to emerge as World Class Teaching and Research Institution.
The University has emerged as one of the fastest-growing institutions of higher learning in India as the University keeps collaborating with the top Universities in the USA for regular student exchange program. There is a population of over 12,000 and faculty members number nearly about 1500. Over 120 programs are offered.

The 400 acre campus is well planned with infrastructure like academic buildings, administration wing, central library, hostels, guest house, staff-quarters, shopping complex, swimming pool and play grounds.
The campus has built-up area of over 28 lakhs sq. feet linked by 7 km black topped roads. Amrita also provides uninterrupted power and water supply round the clock.
The automated Central library has open access system. The Library has a wide range of library materials that cater to various learning resources of 58103 books, 377 Periodicals, 3000+ online e-resources like e-journals, e-books, conference proceedings, e-databases and standards, 2650 Project reports, 7086 back-volumes, 4781 CD/DVDs resources and 14 Daily News Papers.
The Digital Library has centrally air-conditioned, which has the capacity of 170 users. Currently 100 users can access simultaneously.
Separate hostel facilities are provided for girls and boys. Their stay in the hostel enables them to imbibe a holistic lifestyle with activities like yoga, sports and extra-curricular activities.
There are eight hostels in the campus which accommodate above 3500 inmates. P.G students and final year U.G students are allotted single rooms. All hostels are equipped with solar water heater for hot water supply. Pure vegetarian food prepared under hygienic conditions is served in the student dining halls and the canteens from a central Kitchen. Night cafeteria is attached with all hostels.
Coimbatore campus has facilities for outdoor and indoor games like Hockey, Shuttle badminton, Ball Badminton, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Weight lifting, Power Lifting, Basketball, Kabaddi, Tennis, Handball, Throw-ball, Volleyball, and Tennikoit. One state-of the art synthetic tennis court and a cement tennis court are also available.
The guest house facility includes 20 A.C rooms, 4 A.C suites, 20 non A.C rooms, conference hall and dining hall. Guest house is the preferred venue for various events like board meetings, conferences, seminars, press meetings etc. It provides comfortable stay for parents, visiting professors, company executives, and administrators and so on.
The Dhana Laxmi Bank operates a branch with ATM facility for the benefit of staff and students. A general store caters to the stationery and other requirements like domestic goods, toiletry, provisions, books etc. The amenities complex houses a tailoring shop, Photocopying facility, a men’s hair dressing centre and STD booth. Three canteens are functioning inside the campus.

Every teacher is well-qualified, and some of them are overqualified. They are helpful, and they even help us in off time over a WhatsApp call or chat. Teaching quality is quite good. Teachers are good here.
The integrated physics programme at Amrita aims to train students in high-level theoretical knowledge and enable them to overcome complex practical problems in industries. Since mathematics, physics, chemistry and life sciences are fundamental courses. In this course, students will be taught a combination of all these four subjects during the first two years.
Hostels are pretty well-maintained, and the first year ashram hostels provide a very good environment to grow. Canteens are good and serve a good variety of dishes.
