SRM Valliammai Engineering College, a Division of SRM Group of Educational Institutions was established in 1999 in Kanchipuram by Valliammai Educational Society. The College was accorded autonomous status by UGC in 2019-20. The College is situated in a serene atmosphere by the side of NH 45, between Tambaram and Chengalpattu.

The aim of the College is to achieve and maintain international eminence and become a model institution for higher learning through dedicated development of minds, advancement of knowledge and professional application of skills.

 The College approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai offers 11 under graduate and 8 post graduate courses in Engineering & Technology and Management. The Courses are accreditedby NBA, New Delhi.

The college has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty both from academic and industrial background. Besides, the students bring laurels to the college by securing university ranks.

VEC is proud of its infrastructure with 5 imposing multi-storeyed Academic Blocks and 2 Workshop Blocks. The College buidings house fully furnished Laboratories, Class rooms, Drawing halls, Conference halls, Offices for HODs, Staff rooms, Seminar Halls, Department Libraries and other facilities. All the laboratories have latest equipment and machinery facilitating the study of the students.

The institution has more than a dozen computer laboratories with a total number of 1350 terminals. The college also provides Internet facility (100 Mbps) for the benefit of students and faculty.I

The fully equipped spacious library is spread over 2 storeys and is housed in the New Block. It subscribes to 315 journals and magazine periodicals including IEEE online journals. The library stocks 15,847 Titles and 48,902 Volumes, 12,541 Indian/ Foreign Journals / Magazines / Online Journals from IEEE and ASME.

Two separate hostels for boys and girls students accommodating about 1200 students have necessary infrastructure and modern kitchen. The inmates are provided with a cot, a chair and a table. Healthy and hygienic food is served at the hostels. Wi-Fi Internet Connection,
 T.V Hall and CCTV Surveillance Camera are some of other facilities at the hostels.

A number of hi-tech air conditioned buses are being operated connecting almost all parts of the city and suburban for the convenience of the students and faculty.

The College canteen with the the necessary infrastructure and modern kitchen serves healthy and hygienic food to the students.

SRM VEC offers sports quota admissions every year based on the performance and achievements of the candidates irrespective of sports disciplines. There are play ground and equipments for indoor and outdoor games by students. Boys and girls participate enthusiastically in games like Badminton, Ball Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Foot ball, Handball, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, etc. and in various Athletic events.

The health needs of the students are catered to by the SRM multi-speciality Hospital situated inside the campus. The Hospital has fully equipped modern operation theater complex where all the major surgeries are performed.

City Union Bank and Indian Bank and their ATM’s are located inside the campus for the convenience of the students.

Facilities and infrastructure available for the courses are excellent. There are good Wi-Fi facilities and very good lab facilities for students. The atmosphere in the classrooms and the library is very nice for all the students.

The quality of the facilities provided in the College hostel is excellent, and the quality of food available in the mess is excellent. Medical facilities, sports and games are extremely excellent.
