Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering (DCE), Chennai, a self-financing College, was established by the prestigious Dhanalakshmi Education Trust near Tambaram at Chennai in the year 2001-2002. The College of Engineering is committed to provide highly disciplined, conscientious and enterprising professionals conforming to global standards through value-based quality education and training. It will promote Academic Excellence in pursuit of Technical Education at different levels to provide competent technical manpower capable of meeting the global requirements of the industry.

 The college approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.

The college offers six under graduate programmes in engineering and three post graduate programmes. The four UG programmes EEE, ECE, CSE, and IT are accredited by NBA, New Delhi and the institution is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

The college has excellent infrastructure facilities and takes pride in having experienced faculty members well qualified, and dedicated.

Dhanalakshmi College of Engineeringhas excellentinfrastructure facilities built up in 25 acre area of a lush green campus. It includes magnificent buildings with a unique blend of both oriental and architectural marvels. Each department is housed in a separate and exclusive block.

The College has a well furnished, spacious, well lit, lecture hall. The laboratories are equipped with most modern and sophisticated equipments. In addition, the particular block has seminar hall, department library, Faculty Rooms, Students’ Common Rooms.

The auditorium is fully air-conditioned and furnished with a seating capacity is 600, with effective A.V. System.

In addition to individual department libraries, the massive central library has a seating capacity for about 200 people. The library has an extensive collection of nearly 20,000 volumes and also provides access to 59 national journals. The library also subscribes to 120 online IEEE e-journals with a view to provide updates for all students. The entire library functions with an exclusive software package (OPAC).

Separate hostels for boys and girls are provided within the college premises. Well furnished 350 rooms available in the ladies hostel and 500 rooms in the boy’s hostel. The inmates are provided with individual cots, cupboards, tables, chairs and coat stands.

There is easy access to library and computer facilities during leisure hours. The facilities include a standby of 62.5KVA diesel generator, a water treatment plant, dispensary and EPBX telephone system and 24 hrs 4 MBps internet connection.

 The College provides free commutation from pick up and drop-off points for the students and also for industrial visits.

The College has a Herbal Greenhouse to cleanse the densely polluted air and breathe fresh air from plants planted within the campus.

Sports facilities are provided in a play ground area of 25 acre. These include courts for outdoor and indoor games ranging from football, basket ball, volleyball, tennis, cricket ground, athletic track, table tennis table, etc.  The College actively promotes the participation of the students in sports activities.

For B.E./B.Tech, minimum educational qualification of the candidate should be 10+2 and should have minimum 45% of mark in his/her studies as per the norms of Anna University. One of the subjects at Higher Secondary level should be mathematics.

The minimum eligibility for various categories for M.E. / M.Tech Degree Courses is a ‘Pass’ in recognized bachelor’s degree obtaining atleast 50% of the qualifying examination (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category). Candidates who pass in the qualifying degree course will appear for TANCET Exam.or MAT/GATE.

The Training and Placement Cell after identifying the training needs based on the industry requirements trains the students using corporate trainers and assists the students for completing certification courses. It also identifies the industry needs and organises special courses and projects for the faculty members through Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) to enhance their skill-set as per industry standards.

Students are provided with intensive placement oriented training programmes right from the 1st semester in order to expose and make students habitual to the expectations of various industries. The training programmes relate to improvement in skills of Communication, Personality Development and Interview , Group Discussion, aptitude , Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning , Computer Programming Skills and Technical Interview. Mock interviews are also conducted to increase the confidence level, team spirit, leadership qualities and to groom their body language.
