GKM College of Engineering & Technology, Chennai is a premier technical educational institution established in the year 1996 by GKM Group of Educational Institutions and run by Suganthi Educational Trust to impart Quality Education in Engineering, Technology and Management. The college is located at 5 km off Tambaram, Chennai – Chengalpet National Highway (NH45).

The campus is spread over nearly 10 acres of land housing state of art infrastructure with different blocks for the Departments. The College has spacious class rooms, well equipped laboratories and workshops and other facilities.
The Centralized Information Centre includes a well supported Computer Center, Internet Center, Communication Skills Lab, Central Library, Audio-visual facilities, Conference Hall for Group Discussion and Digital Library.
A separate Computer Lab of 60 Systems is available for the freshers with the configuration of Pentium III.
The Xerox Block of the College is exclusively designed to fulfill the needs of Marine Department students with perfect lab facilities.
The centre has 20 systems LAN connected BSNL Broadband with 256kbps and Tata Indicom with 115kbps. The centre provides scanning and printing facilities. The centre is accessible 24 hours free for both staff and students.
GKM College of Engineering and Technology at Chennai has a well stocked fully automated library with easy access to a huge volume of books, periodicals, journals and other related materials. The library accommodates 500 readers at a time. GKM Information Centre subscribes to 103 National and 216 International Journals and all leading news papers.
The College accommodates Boys and Girls in eparate hostels with 24 x 7 Security System. The college has a NSS and YRC unit under Anna University and NCC (Boys Wing & Girls Wing) unit registered with Tambaram regiment.

For B.E./B.Tech, minimum educational qualification of the candidate should be 10+2 and should have minimum 45% of mark in his/her studies as per the norms of Anna University. One of the subjects at Higher Secondary level should be mathematics.
The minimum eligibility for various categories for M.E. / M.Tech Degree Courses is a ‘Pass’ in recognized bachelor’s degree obtaining atleast 50% of the qualifying examination (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category). Candidates who pass in the qualifying degree course will appear for TANCET Exam.or MAT/GATE.
Candidates seeking admission for MCA should pass Bachelor /Master Degree Examination from any recognized Educational Institution/ University with a minimum mark of 50% with Mathematics as a subject in degree or +2 levels.
Candidates seeking admission for MBA must have Bachelor/Master Degree from any recognized Educational Institution / University in Arts, Science, Commerce, Management and Engineering with a minimum mark of 50%. They should also have performed well in MAT/CAT Scores, Group discussions and Personal Interviews.
Every year the College admits the students based on cutoff marks decided by the college.

Career Guidance Cell is functioning as nodal centre in the college with a Counseling Committee and Training and placement Committee. The Career Guidance Cell functions with the coordination of faculty members and Student coordinators from all streams.

Teachers in the College are very helpful, and are well-qualified. They are knowledgeable, and their teaching is good. Many facilities are available in the college premises like good infrastructure, sports ground with a net practice court for cricket; well furnished labs with a well-equipped classroom and library are excellent.
Wi-Fi is available only in the hostel with a minimum usage of 34 Mbps for the betterment of the students. The food in the mess is hygienic. The College also has a good medical facility for the required ones. It also has provided with a swimming pool a basketball court a cricket pitch a volleyball court and etc.
