ABOUT NITTE UNIVERSITY
NITTE University is a private higher education institution established in 2008 in Mangalore Karnataka. Recognized by the University Grants Commission of India, NITTE University is a coeducational institution offering courses and programmes leading to higher education degrees in several areas of study.
The aim of the University is to develop as a Centre of Excellence imparting quality education, generating competent, skilled manpower to face the scientific and social challenges, with a high degree of credibility, integrity, ethical standards and social concern.
The A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (established in 1985) was the first constituent college of NITTE University. Currently, it has five constituent colleges, the other four being, N.G.S.M. Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (established in 1983), Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (established in 1992), and Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (established in 1997) and K.S. Hegde Medical Academy) (established in Two more constituent colleges namely Nitte Institute of Communication (2012) and Nitte Institute of Architecture (2015).
K.S. Hegde Medical Academy has made rapid progress towards being recognized as a medical school with high academic standards, delivering quality health care with an emphasis on promoting social responsibility in its students. It offers MBBS, MD/MS and MCh programs recognized by the Medical Council of India and other B.Sc courses in Health Sciences.
Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, the 1000 bed super-speciality hospital attached to the Institution serves as a teaching hospital for all the affiliated courses, and provides all levels of holistic health care including major super-specialty services and provides excellent training opportunities to the students of the academy.
The Institutions under the University provide the best opportunities for hands-on training. Also, initiatives like mentorship programs, skill development, integrated learning, e-learning resources and objective assessment practices are the highlights of the academic programs offered by the institutions. The constituent colleges take pride in having dedicated faculty and non-teaching staff who strive to develop the students to grow into competent professionals.
The University has an active research program with the development of state-of-art Central Research Laboratory and has successfully generated substantial support from external funding agencies. The Institution has collaborations and research linkages with international and national organizations like the Wake Forest University, USA, University of Toronto, Canada, BARC Research Centre, Mangalore University, India and St. John’s Research Institute, India. Both undergraduate and post-graduate students are encouraged to participate in research activities.

NITTE UNIVERSITY – FACILITIES
NITTE UNIVERSITY provides medical and dental treatment at the 1000-bed multispecialty Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital and the A B Shetty Dental College Hospital. The hospitals have all the facilities required for a modern multispecialty hospital and Dental hospital including 24/7 laboratoies, pharmacy, ambulance and blood bank, etc. providing excellent health care services to the people of Karnataka.
The students are provided with various opportunities to excel in academic and health related programs both in state and national level competitions, such as sports, cultural events, debate and quiz competitions. The University strives to maintain the fitness level of the students by providing for various sports activities such as athletic tracks, playground for sports like Football ground, Cricket pitch, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton courts as well as for indoor games such as table tennis, chess and caroms.
The University has a fleet of buses and vans maintained within the campus providing transport facilities to the students and staff, free of cost.
The Student Nurses Association of NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences established in the year 2004 affords many opportunities to student nurses to showcase their talents and promote personal, intellectual, professional and social growth of its members.
The University accommodates students within close proximity to the college and hospital. There are special rooms equipped with all the latest facilities and bath attached washrooms. The hostellers are provided with a cot, cupboard, study table and chair.
Every hostel has solar water heaters, Wi-Fi facility, common telephone, TV room, reading room, visitors lounge, water coolers, generators, 24/7 security and surveillance cameras. AC rooms are available in some of the hostels. The hostels also have facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
An in-house laundry is provided to the inmates of the hostel. Mess facility is provided to the students and run by them on a sharing basis. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian food is made available to the inmates and the students.
The University houses an air conditioned gym with all the latest equipments like treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, rowing machines and full-fledged multi-gym.
