About Sona College of Technology, Salem
Sona College of Technology, Salem was established in 1997 by Chockalingam Trust running Sona Group of institutions. The College is autonomous from 2012.
The College aims to become an institute of great repute, in the fields of Science, Engineering, Technology and Management studies, by offering programmes of global standard to foster research and to transform the students into globally competent professionals.
Sona College of Technology offers engineering degree programmes at the undergraduate level and post graduate level, computer applications and management studies at post graduate level and doctoral programmes in the areas of engineering and science and humanities.
The College is approved by AICTE, affiliated to Anna University and is accredited by NBA for its courses.
The College is proud of its well experienced and highly motivated faculty, staff and skill development trainers who guide the students to enhance their thinking skills, analytical frameworks, interpersonal and communication skills and technical skills which will mould them into engineering professionals. The sprawling campus of the college has excellent facilities that include bright and airy classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, well-equipped workshops and a well-stocked library.
Computer Centre, Technology Business Incubation Centre, 3 Auditoriums and 2 Seminar halls to conduct Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and functions and free internet browsing are some of the other facilities provided for by the College.
In addition, there are excellent sports facilities including a Gymnasium, Medical facilities, three cafeterias that serve wholesome food to the students and staff members.
The facilities available for the sports include courts for Football, Hockey, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis and a cricket net with pitch. The Indoor Games facilities consist of Swimming Pool, Shuttle, Billiards, Carom and Chess and Yoga and Meditation Centre.
Separate hostel facilities are available for Indian and International boys and girls. The hostel rooms are furnished with a table, chair, cot and fan and it provides nutritious food for all the students.

Sona College of Technology, Salem – Cutoffs
For B.E./B. Tech., the applicant should pass 10+2 from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% for General, 45% for OC, and 40% for SC/ST/MBC/BC average in all relevant papers.
Applicants applying for M. Tech/MBA/MCA courses have to appear for the entrance exam (TANCET/MAT/GATE) conducted by Anna University and Anna university affiliated colleges.
For MBA, a pass in a recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination is required.
For MCA, the Candidate should have passed BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree OR passed B.Sc./B.Com./B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the concerned University) and obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination.

The placement is really awesome and is extraordinary. In every department, Wi-Fi is available; labs are very neat, classrooms are also neat. After class hour’s, students can play games in-ground and there are many extracurricular activities in a hostel in both girls and boys hostel.
The teachers are really helpful and very friendly. The teaching qualities of staffs are perfect and easily understandable. The staff teaches relevant topics about the subject.
