What is an Agricultural Engineering ?

Agricultural Engineering is a stream of engineering which refers to the design, construction, and improvements in farming equipment and machinery.Agricultural engineering integrates technology into farming. For example, it plans new and purified farming equipment that work more efficient. It outlines and builds agricultural infrastructure such as warehouses, water reservoirs, dams, and other structures. It also tries to find the resolution for pollution control at big farms. Some agricultural engineers are also enhanced the new variety of bio-fuels from non-food resources like agricultural waste and algae. Such fuels could sustainably and economically substitute as gasoline without risking the food supply.

Career – Agriculture Engineering

Most Agriculture engineers plans and verify agricultural equipment, machinery, and parts. They plan food processing plants and food storage structures. Some also plans housing and environments for livestock. They design and see over land reclamation projects on farms. Some are engaged in agricultural waste-to-energy projects and carbon sequestration. Work profiles of agriculture engineers are elaborated in the later part of this article.

Most agricultural engineers (17%) were worked in engineering, architectural, and such other related services. 16% were worked by the government. Another 14% employed in food manufacturing. 13% employed in agriculture, construction, and mining machinery manufacturing. Another 6% were employed as educators.

Agricultural engineers employed in both indoors and outdoors. They consume time in offices making plans and maintains projects, and see over reclamation and water management projects , monitoring equipment, and in agricultural settings inspecting sites.

These engineers are also worked in laboratories and classrooms. They may collaborate with others to design and solve problems. For example, they may employ with horticulturalists, animal scientists, agronomists, and geneticists.

Job prospects for Agriculture Engineers

Agricultural engineers work in different zones such as forestry , and food processing etc. They employ on a vast variety of projects. For example, some agricultural engineers work to increase the storage capacity and efficiency of refrigeration and whereas others to develop climate control systems that increase the comfort and productivity of livestock whereas.

Many agricultural engineers undertaking to develop better resolutions for animal waste disposal. Those who have computer programming skills work to integrate geospatial systems and artificial intelligence into agriculture. For example, they employe to efficiency in automate harvesting systems or to fertilizer application . From this we can understand that, an Agriculture Engineer has a lot of roles to play after finishing his/her course. These roles are listed below:

Food SupervisorPlant Physiologist
