
What is Food Technology ?
Food Technology contain with chemical,physical or microbiological techniques and methods for converting raw mixture into food and also other kinds in food processing industry.
Food processing deals with transforming the raw mixture into edible components or converting food into other edible types. BE/B. Tech in Food Technology is a four-year process. Food Technology refers with different chemical processes ,that make food products consumable and ready to sell in the market. Food processors clean the harvested crops or butchered animal products and utilise them to generate attractive, marketable food products with long shelf-life. Same methods used in animal feed. You will able to pursue M. Tech in Food Technology after victorious finishing of BE/B.Tech.
Thus Food Engineering Food Science and Food Technology are very overlapping, there are few subtle varriations. i’m not about to get into too several details on this

candidates in B.Tech food technology can search jobs in different government organizations, laboratories etc. Lot of companies works under the Food Corporation of India recruit graduates in this stream. Originally they are recruited as trainees. Trainees can earn salary of Rs. 20,000/- per month at their training period itself . Basically,the training period is 6 months.Trainees were promoted to higher grades based on their capabilities after their initial training . Their salary package will also increase consequently after the training period. Training period of Entry level professionals is 6 months initially. Entrance Exams for B. Tech in Food Technology are listed below
- CFTRI: Central Food Technological Research Institute Entrance Exam: This exam is used to obtain admission into M.Sc Food Technology Course by the CFTRI, Mysore
- IICPT: Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology Entrance Exam
- AIJEE: All India Joint Entrance Exam Exam :This is conducted for admitting candidates into the B.Tech course in Food Technology and Biochemical Science. The student should qualify the state Joint Entrance Exams (JEE) or the All India Joint Entrance Exam (AIJEE) for joining the course.
Qualification Criteria for Admission in Food technology engineering
For pursuing B. Tech course in Food Technology a candidate must have 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2. candidates aspiring to pursue the Master level course need to have finished B. E./B.
