Vellore Institute of Technology [VIT] was established in the year 1984 with the view of providing a world-class education to students who would, in turn, create an indelible impact on society. VIT University, Chennai has its administrative offices that take care of the academics and curriculum aspects of the college. The administrative offices are responsible for setting the curriculum for the various programs including research on the latest syllabi followed in top global universities. VIT University Cut Off is set by the university as criteria for accepting students into various courses.

The University has international tie-ups and hence an International Relations Officer is assigned to help students get internships and foreign admissions after their studies in their university. They also have a Students Welfare Committee that takes care of various issues regarding permissions and supports the various events of clubs and chapters. The Students Welfare Committee also works closely with the Students Council body of the college and addresses the various concerns of students.

VIT University has well-trained counselor members who help the young students with their emotional difficulties who are always available on call and in their cabins, in several sectors of the university, during working hours to address any student’s needs and help solve their problems. VIT University Scholarship is offered to its meritorious students under GV School Development Programme. VIT Chennai FFCS is a Fully Flexible Credit System was formed in the pursuit of academic excellence and creating a student-friendly learning environment. This system gives the students their complete freedom in tailoring their course in a way they wish to. This system lets the students prepare his/her own timetable with the specific courses he/she intends to do in that semester along with the timings of classes and choice of professors. The FFCS system provides the flexibility to pursue their other interests in sports or club activities and scheduling classes accordingly. The Student also gets ample opportunities to do interdisciplinary courses.
