About Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala
Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala, established in 1983, is a premier educational institution that aims at fulfilling the higher educational needs of the people from Central Kerala. The University has jurisdiction over the revenue districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and parts of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. With its main campus at Athirampuzha, 12 km from Kottayam, the University also has two satellite campuses in Kottayam.
The Institution, offering a large number of programmes at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M Phil and Doctoral levels, has in its fold 17 University Departments, 1 International and Inter-University Centre, 7 Inter-University Centres, 10 Inter-School Centres, 77 Govt./Aided Affiliated Colleges, 10 Autonomous Colleges, 200 Unaided Affiliated Colleges and 199 Recognized Research Centres. It imparts education in the interdisciplinary as well as conventional disciplines of Science, Social Science and Humanities besides in the professional disciplines like Engineering, Technology, Legal Studies, Pedagogy, Pharmacy and Nursing.
The Chancellor of the University is Governor of Kerala and the Minister of Higher Education of Kerala is the Pro-Chancellor.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam is one of the major universities in Kerala fulfilling the educational needs of the people of central Kerala. The campus is located at the sprawling 110-acre Priyadarsini Hills which is 12 km from the main city of Kottayam.
The Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala has a modern infrastructure with a well-stocked central library having a large number of books, and subscriptions to journals, periodicals and magazines. University boasts of a full-fledged auditorium and each of the Science Schools has its own well-equipped laboratories.
The University has modern exclusive instruments for performing experiments, conducting an analysis of products and high-end decision-making process. There are high-performance computers and high-speed network connectivity in well-equipped labs.
The University provides hostel accommodation to men and women with the necessary facilities and quarters for faculty and staff.
