Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is an State University situated at Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a UGC approved university which came into existence in the year 1985. It was accredited with grade ‘B’ by NAAC as an Autonomous Institution. It is the 1st University to introduce CBCS curriculum in Telangana state. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University provides academic courses under 7 schools, 16 departments, and 5 centres in Hyderabad, Srisailam, Rajahmundry, Warangal, and Kuchipudi.
The University provides both regular and distance learning PG, UG, Diploma, Ph.D., and certificate courses in different streams like Linguistics, Drama, Theatre, Dance, Journalism, Jyotisha, And Folk & Tribal Lore. It also offers courses designed for foreign candidates, and non-Telugu speakers residing in other states of India. Under the self-financed section, PG Diploma and Certificate courses in Astrology, Film Direction, and Music.
For UG candidates, the University offers a BFA course, 9 specializations in Diploma course and 8 in certification programme. For all these, 10+2 is the basic eligibility. For PG students, Telugu University offers six specializations under MA, four specialisations under MPA, and MCJ courses for which graduation is mandatory. The University provides courses for post-graduates as well including eight specializations under Ph.D. and eleven PG Diploma programmes.
Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University offers NET and other government competitive examination coaching for all the candidates. It also runs remedial coaching in spoken English for ST/SC students. The PST University also published a tri-monthly magazine titled Telugu Vaani.

The following are the facilities given by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University to help candidates as well as faculty members.
Central Library: The University Library well-equipped with approximately 1 lakh book and volumes of journals for reference purposes. The library has digitized almost 14,000 old and rare books, journals, and periodicals. The library subscribes to almost 16 newspapers in Telugu, 52 periodicals and famous magazines and English from Indian publishers.
Hostel Facility: The University provides accommodation to its registered candidates.
Auditorium: The auditorium is fully-furnished with AC/Non AC and a seating ability of 267 students.
Audio-Visual Studio: The University has audio-visual studios completily equipped with all high-quality audio and video facilities. It also runs a computer cell on the University campus.
Museum: The University has 3 galleries related to contemporary art, paintings and portraits of Telugu luminaries. The faculty encourages candidates to attend and participate in the Intervarsity competitions in Drama, Dance, Painting, and Sculpture.

The University provides Research fellowship to the candidates enrolled in the research level degree programmes like M.Phil. and Ph.D. The University exempts the tuition fee for all the candidates belonging to the economically weaker section category in all regular courses. The University offers scholarships to candidates belonging to ST/SC/OBC/EWS category through the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Department.
