About St Josephs College of Pharmacy, Cherthala

St. Joseph’s College of Pharmacy established in 2002 is situated in Cherthala, the land of back waters in close proximity to Kumarakom, the renowned tourist spot and National Aquatic Bird Sanctuary. It is run by a unit of the Nirmala Province of the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph, Aluva in Kerala.  As a pioneer in the field of pharmacy education in Kerala, St Josephs’ College is one of the top Pharmacy Colleges in Kerala.

The College strives to create committed, compassionate, skilful and integrated professionals with character and competence, who are responsible to build up a healthy family, society and nation. The College is aimed at moulding professionals with competence and commitment in the healthcare sector.

St Josephs College of Pharmacy, Cherthala – Course, Fees & Duration

The eligibility for B. Pharm and Pharm. D courses is pass in 10+2 examination or equivalent examinations with 50 % marks, conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or Examinations equivalent thereto with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually. The candidate shall fulfil eligibility before the last date of application.

 For B. Pharm (Lateral Entry), a candidate who has passed the Diploma in Pharmacy course of Educational Regulations 1991 under Pharmacy Act 1948 from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India with a minimum of 50% marks in the final year examinations will be eligible. 

A candidate who has passed the B. Pharm Degree Examination of Kerala University of Health Sciences or an examination equivalent thereto of any other university recognized by the Kerala University of Health Sciences with not less than a total of 50% marks shall be eligible for admission to M. Pharm course.

The candidate should have undergone B. Pharm in an institution approved by AICTE & PCI. Candidates who have passed their B. Pharm course outside Kerala will be eligible for admission only if their qualifying examination is recognized by the Kerala University of Health Sciences on the date of application/allotment. The candidate shall fulfil eligibility before the last date of application.

A Pharm. D graduate/postgraduate course focuses on clinical practices allowing hands-on experience whereas a B. Pharm graduate is research-oriented and skilled in the manufacture of drugs and the discovery of new drugs.

St Josephs College of Pharmacy, Cherthala – Facilities

The College of Pharmacy at Cherthala has spacious classrooms and well maintained smart classrooms. The classroom has adequate facilities like built-in LCD projectors to enhance the learning systems. Besides, the College also has well-equipped labs with all the latest instruments for precise experiments.

The students, especially Pharm D students, receive clinical experience in the affiliated Lourde’s, Hospital, Cochin.  

Apart from these facilities, the College houses a well-stocked library with a large collection of books on various topics of Pharmacy and others. In addition, there is a reading room specially designed for readers to concentrate and learn faster.

The College of Pharmacy has a collection of animals for experimentations kept within the Animal House. In addition, the College has a Medicinal Garden were plants of medicinal value are grown and built for due experiments.

The College accommodates both girls and boys in separate hostels. The hostels have all the facilities and the latest amenities for use by the students. Clean and hygienic food is served within the College campus.

The Pharmacy College has a self-owned fleet of buses to commute students from the pickup and drop points to and from the College. The College has a well-built cafeteria for students to enjoy fast food with clean and hygienic preparations.
