Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering or SCT is a state-government-sponsored college in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, India. It was founded by the Government of Kerala in the year 1995. The college has been retaining the privilege of being one among the top engineering colleges in Kerala.In the year 2006 Outlook magazine has it a rank of 98 in its list of Top 100 Engineering Colleges of India. It is one among the top 3 Engineering colleges in Kerala. It is one among the three engineering colleges from the state of Kerala to appear on the list. In the year 2011 WEEK survey, it was ranked to be 65th in the list of top 100 engineering colleges in India.
Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering is affiliated to the University of Kerala, with the approval of (AICTE) All India Council for Technical Education. With just over top ten engineering colleges functioning in Kerala during 90s, there was an urge to establish another institution, under the control of the Government of Kerala, to nurture top quality engineers in the State. It was founded at a time when need for quality engineers was an urge in the society. It is one among the first college in South India to provide a B. Tech programme in Automobile Engineering. It is one among the few colleges that got accredited in early 2000 itself.

The good collection of the Library presently comprises of more than over 30,000 books in Engineering and interdisciplinary areas of Sciences. The Library’s very extensive Print national and international journals ; Electronic resources such as IEEE, ASME,SPRINGER EEC, MCGRAW HILL GENERAL ENGG, J-Gate( jet) and ASTM that may include databases, Full text databases, Journals , Images and many other Digital maps help the college community
Computing:
The Computer Centre has HP Blade Server which has around 48 workstations connected over a switched fast Ethernet
A fiber optic network connects the several departments with the CCF.
