Government Polytechnic College, Kasaragod in thrissur was founded in the year 1988. The campus is spread over 12.8 acre and it is situated beside the National Highway NH 66 in Vadakkekkara, Periye in the Pullur-Periye Grama Panchayath. It provides five three-year Diploma programs in the disciplines of  Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering,  Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering. The annual intake of the college is 280 at present. The institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and it is affiliated to State Board of Technical Education, Kerala (SBTE Kerala).

Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) co-ordinates the training and placement activities for the students. It is a voluntary organisation guided by the Placement Officer and run by candidate representatives.
