Government Engineering College, Kozhikode (GECK) started in the year 1999, is one among the nine prestigious institutions run by Government of Kerala. The institute is situated in Kozhikode city, it is well connected by a network of road, rail and airport. This institute, being a Government Engineering College, offers affordable technical education and is a best choice among the brilliant students from the nearby backward and rural districts. Presently it has five undergraduate (UG) degree programs in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and three PG programs in Computer aided process design, Energy systems-Analysis and Design and Signal Processing.
The college is affiliated to University of Calicut. It is located at West Hill which is well connected to the Kozhikode city by open and wide roads, the institute campus is about 5 km away from the Kozhikode main railway station, 4 km. from the private bus terminal and 30 Km. from Calicut International airport. The institute offers B.Tech Degree course in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The syllabus that is followed by the college is constantly updated, incorporating all the latest advancements of technology.

The centre provides free internet connectivity to the students and faculty members. Library: The best Technical Library and Documentation Centre has a vast collection of books. It satisfies the needs of the students of all branches. It is fully computerized and offers Photostat facility at subsidized rates. A large number of international and national journals are subscribed in the library. A computerized library information system is implemented. A separate section is for the general reading books. A section on the books to prepare for competitive examinations like GATE etc. is also available. Steps are being taken to develope the library as a digital library.

Govt of India Post Metric Scholarships: This is based on the Govt of India Scholarship which is available on the basis of economic criterion of students.
Govt of Kerala National Loan Scholarship Scheme: It is available on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examinations
Interest free will be repayable loan scholarship by Government of Kerala: The Government of Kerala gives this Scholarship to all students of engineering institutions on merit-cum-means basis
