SRM University, a Deemed University is currently known as SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It is a co-educational private university and its parent campus was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College. The Institute of Science and Technology has a modern infrastructure with facilities like an air conditioned auditorium having a seating capacity of 750 people and equipped with public added system and in built amplifier speakers. Besides, there is an open auditorium with a seating capacity of 3000 attached to the auditorium. The campus also has three air conditioned Seminar Halls with a seating capacity of 200 each.
Central Library of the Institute library is fully air-conditioned with an excellent collection of books covering science, engineering and humanities. It also subscribes to various print & online periodicals.
The Ramapuram Campus has three separate hostels for women and two for men with the floors/rooms in each hostel allotted institution-wise to ensure easy administration. The hostels are provided with facilities including modern kitchens, dining halls and hot water round the clock and Exclusive study halls in each hostel.
Separate department stores and Internet centre for men & women students are provided.
There are also Food Courts, Canteens, DTP, Bank/ ATM, Internet, Telecom center, Super market, Sports, Entertainment/ Recreation, Halls for Gym and Yoga.
College fleet of buses makes commutation easy for the students.
The well equipped SRM Specialty Hospital (150 Beds) within the Campus provides free treatment for the Students, Staff and the Public. The Institute has a self owned fleet of buses to pick and drop students from pick up points.
A Multi-specialty/ General Hospital in the campus attends to the general, medical and dental complaints of the students, staff and public. A team of well-qualified and experienced doctors/ Specialist provides free treatment to the students and others.
High quality vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and refreshments are available in the campus of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Admission is mostly done through National level entrance examination conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) or authorized /statutory boards or agencies. For B. Tech programme, the candidates should complete their 12th or equivalent examination with PCM or PCB with 50% aggregate marks. For B. Arch., the candidate with minimum 50% Marks in Physics, Chemistry & Maths should clear NATA/IITJEE Mains – Paper II. For M. Tech courses, SRMJEEE (PG) or valid score in GATE & TANCET will be considered. For M. Arch, the Admission is done if the candidate meets the requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying examination.
Candidates who have qualified in IIT JEE Main/SAT will be admitted even without taking SRMJEEE.
