About Noorul Islam University [NICHE], Kanyakumari

Noorul Islam College of Engineering, [NICE] was established in the year 1989 and is located in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Known as Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, the Institute imparts high quality education to its students. The Centre has 63 years of Service in Education. The College first started with B.E. Computer Science & Engineering and B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering.

The main motto of NICE is to establish and develop educational institutions of excellence, especially, in the stream of engineering and technology so as to equip the young students in the area.

Noorul Islam College is about 1.5 km on the Kanyakumari-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway towards the foothills of the mountains.  It is about 30 km from Kanyakumari and around 60 km from Trivandrum.

The University has a modern infrastructure built on a campus of 225 acre in Kumarakovil, Thuckalay, near Kanyakumari with spacious class rooms and well equipped laboratories and workshops.

The Library has a huge collection of books, journals and periodicals on Engineering, Technology and related topics.  Apart from a library, the University has a computer lab with the latest set of computers along with a steady internet connection and 24/7 printers attached. There is also a Digital Library with online access to national and international journals.

The University has the women’s hostel on the campus though the men’s hostel and the football ground are outside the University campus.

The University is operating a health centre to treat the students and staff in case of need. The University also operates a fleet of buses for easy commutation by students and staff. . Besides these, the University has high capacity generators to maintain the power backup during current/ electricity failures.

 Admission to BE/B. Tech courses are made based on the JEE Main rank of the candidate. ME/M.Tech candidates are admitted on the basis of the merit of the qualifying examination and the entrance examination. Candidates with valid GATE/GRE scores are admitted without writing the exam. 

M.SC. & M.C.A candidates are admitted on the basis of the combined merit of the qualifying examination and the entrance examination conducted by NICHE. Admission to MBA programmes is based on the combined merit of the qualifying examination and the entrance examination and candidates with valid CAT/MAT/SAT score scores are exempted from the exam.

The  full-fledged Placement & Training Cell of Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education is manned by an industry experienced person as the Director. The Cell strives to promote Institution-Industry Interaction for the benefit of the students to carry out their in-plant training and also to undertake project work as a part of their education requirements framed by the University.

A good number of training programs aiming at their overall competency and preparedness are undertaken throughout the academic year. Smart trainers and leading experts also train the students to face job requirements both on and off campus recruitment.

The Entrepreneurship Guidance Cell under  Department of Management studies guides undergraduate and post graduate students who may be the prospective entrepreneurs likely to enter into business ventures.

The college offers  good placement and many of the graduates have been placed in many high profile companies with attractive  salary. Last year, 98 percent of the students had got placed in many companies. Many companies like the TCS, IBM, Wipro, automobile companies, etc., recruit fresh graduate students of the Institute.

Some teachers are very knowledgeable. Smart class is provided for digital study.  The teachers are helpful and are well-qualified. The college has very nice infrastructure like a nice lab, medical, sports, classrooms, gaming, etc., and especially very nice food through our college. There are nearly 1000 computers all over the campus with good quality used freely and There is also a big library.
