R.M.K. Engineering College is a private engineering college established and managed by The Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust at Kavaraipettai, Gummidipoondi Taluk, Thiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. The College established in the year 1995 is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Chennai International Airport is 48.6 km away from the College. The College has received autonomous status from UGC.
The College aspires to be the most preferred destination in the country for pursuing education in Engineering and its allied fields, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and for undertaking doctoral research.

RMK Engineering College is spread across 60 acres of campus with excellent infrastructure facilities including adequate classrooms and seminar halls for respective departments. The College has been awarded the ‘Clean and Green Campus’ by the Rotary Club of Chennapatna for providing an excellent ambience for learning.
The infrastructure includes buildings for Instructional Area,
Laboratories, Library and Computer Centre, all maintained by a full-fledged
Building construction and maintenance wing. Besides, the required equipment is
provided to the Laboratory and Digital Library
as well as Hardware & Software to the Computer Centre, Audio-visual
equipment & Educational CDs.
R.M.K. Engineering College has a Central Computer Centre with more than 1300 computers, providing computing support and Internet services to the students, faculty, research staff and office staff for academic and office automation purposes.
RMKEC Central Library is a well established fully air-conditioned Library and Information Centre with a huge collection of 97266 Volumes and 26181 Titles, covering all major fields of science and engineering technology with international standard resources. The Library and Information centre has separate reading and reference section for the Undergraduate and Post graduate students, staff members and research scholars. The Library has subscribed to 93 National journals and 102 National technical magazines and General magazines as well as for the e-journals.
The college has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, with three blocks provided for men, accommodating more than 1000 students and another three blocks for women accommodating over 400 students. The boy’s hostel has a separate library, reading room, shuttle courts the students. The girl’s hostel has Table tennis and shuttle courts. Both the hostels have shops to facilitate the students apart from the STD facility.
Three dining halls accommodating a large number of students at a time serve hygienic and healthy food.
Air-conditioned gymnasium with state-of-the-art equipment is available for both men and women. Besides, there is full-fledged air-conditioned hair grooming centre for women and air-conditioned Beauty Parlor for women.
A clinic, with a few beds along with Doctor on call, is available for 24 hours to take care of the health requirements of the hostel students.
The College has a fleet of 55 buses, 10 vans and 16 cars operating along 10 routes to transport students and staff from Chennai to college and back from different points.

The eligibility for BE./B. Tech courses are pass in the twelfth standard of Tamil Nadu H.S.C. (Academic) or an equivalent examination recognised by Anna University with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The Candidate should have passed the Diploma Examination in Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Tamil Nadu or an equivalent examination for direct admission to second year (Lateral Entry). Minimum marks and other criteria for admissions to B.E/B. Tech courses are as per AICTE and State government norms.
For M.E. Degree course, the candidate is required to pass the qualifying examination recognised by Anna University. Candidates need to appear for the TANCET Examination conducted by Anna University or GATE Entrance Exam.
