College of Engineering, Anna University is orCollege of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) is located in the heart of Chennai city with cutting edge infrastructure. CEG was established in 1794, as a School of Survey with one student in a building near Fort St. George. The school became the Civil Engineering School in 1858. Subsequently, CEG was established as a college in 1859 under the Madras University. It was then rechristened as College of Engineering in 1861 with the inclusion of the Mechanical Engineering course.
College of Engineering, Anna University strives towards becoming a World Class Institution by producing professionals with high technical knowledge, professional skills and ethical values. The University is committed to being a preferred partner to the industry and community, contributing towards their economic and social development by providing high-quality manpower through excellence in teaching, research and consultancy.

The College of Engineering, Anna University has a magnificent infrastructure with spacious classrooms and well-equipped laboratories.
CEG specialized computing centre with high-end computing nodes and other advanced laboratories provides enhanced computer facilities to the students. It also serves as a knowledge data centre aiming to promote excellence in teaching, research and governance by providing software and technology resources.
The CEG Library has a vast collection of books and journals, in the order of over 1.5 lakh, and digital learning services. The library also offers access to a range of exclusive e-books and e-journals through the Digital Knowledge Centre. Besides, the various academic departments have their own libraries enhancing the availability of department-specific books to students.
Aided by modern lab equipments, CEG’s Health Centre meets the medical needs of the students with experienced doctors and staff on call. Consultation is free for all the students and employees.
CEG provides facilities like campus-wide, high-speed Wi-Fi services for students, a Co-Op Society store for all students to purchase their basic stationery items, a number of banks and ATMs located around the college, CEG Canteen, cafeterias and restaurants. Besides, barbershop, tailors, and STD/ISD booths are also available on the campus.
The College Sports Facilities include large open playgrounds, athletic tracks, courts and arenas, gymnasiums and swimming pool.

The eligibility for B.E. / B. Tech course is a pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of (12th) Curriculum prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as three or four subjects of the study any other examination of any university or authority accepted by Anna University as equivalent thereto.
Candidates for admission to the first semester of the master’s degree programme should have passed an appropriate degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by Anna University equivalent thereto.
Out of all the courses, the College is known for its B. Tech programme. The programme has a total intake of 1,290 students and admission to the course is based on Class 12 merit followed by TNEA Counseling.
TNEA Counseling 2020 is a single-window process for admission to B. Tech programmes offered in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges. Candidates must note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped and so seats are allotted in TNEA through the merit list.

The College of Engineering conducts placement activities for more than 3000 students belonging to engineering/management departments for improved performance and placement probability. The Centre for University and Industrial collaboration (CUIC/Placement cell) provides infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews.
The Placement Office interacts with many industries in the country, of which nearly 200 companies visit the campus for holding campus interviews. The placement team of the college strives hard to provide placements to students in engineering, arts & sciences and allied courses. The placement team imparts a summer internship and final placement for its students.
