Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) is a self –financing educational institution situated in Pollachi, Coimbatore District established in 1998 to commemorate the 75th Birthday of the great visionary Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam. It was conferred Autonomous status by UGC in 2011.

The College strives to impart high quality competency based technical education in Engineering and Technology to students with the required skills and abilities to face the challenging needs of the industry worldwide. It also endeavours to attain a unique status in the international level by means of infrastructure, state-of-the-art computer facilities and techniques.

MCET offers 9 under graduate and 6 post graduate programmes in Engineering and Technology apart from 5 Ph. D programmes. The College follows Outcome Based Education with Choice Based Credit System and Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation. The Curriculum is industry driven.

Approved by AICTE, the College is affiliated to Anna University. The College is one of the top Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu.

The College has a modern infrastructure with well furnished and spacious class rooms and well equipped laboratories. There are number of tutorial rooms and drawing halls.

Well furnished hostels are available for men and women separately accommodating 1410 men and 714 women students. Single, double and multi member rooms with the required facilities are available in the hostels. Vegetarian food, on sharing basis is made available in the mess with modern kitchen and furnished dining hall. Facilities like Internet browsing, Library and Reading room, Medical Facilities, Laundry, Hair Dressing facilities, Inbuilt Canteen, Xerox Centre etc. are available for the convenience of the students staying in the hostel.

Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology has a good library, fully air conditioned and automated with a good collection of books, journals, CDs and DVDs covering various branches of Engineering, Technology, Science and Humanities and other related fields. Besides, there are separate Department Libraries.

The other amenities provided are Post Office, Nationalised Banks, ATM, Hotel, Canteen, Driving school, DTP Centre, Temple, , Book Depot, Doctor with Dispensary, Laundry and Salon.

The college buses are operated from the campus to Pollachi, Coimbatore and to Udumalpet on all working days.

The College encourages students to participate in higher level sports and games competition and Fitness Activities. It provides infrastructure facilities like outdoor games and International level multi-purpose indoor stadium for playing indoor games. A modern gym offers fun and safe learning environment that gives weight training, strength gaining. The outdoor grounds include those for Cricket, Hockey, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Athletic track etc. and  Indoor ones include those for  Shuttle, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess, Gym etc.

The eligibility for B.E./B. Tech course is pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of (12th) Curriculum prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as three or four subjects of the study any other examination of any university or authority accepted by Anna University as equivalent thereto.

Candidates for admission to the first semester of the master’s degree programme should have passed an appropriate degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by Anna University equivalent thereto.

Labs are awesome within the campus. Classrooms are very good, and the library is like a small museum. Hostel facilities are good, and food is very tasty. For sports and games, the College makes all arrangements and all the needed tasks along with the medical facilities for the students. Canteen is good at the  college. Faculty members here are hardworking and dedicated. They guide the students in all ways ranging from academics to sports.
