ABOUT JSS ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION & RESEARCH, DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY), MYSURU
JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, formerly known as JSS University, is a Deemed to be University located in Mysuru, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and is a constituent of JSS Mahavidyapeeth, running a variety of educational institutions. This deemed-to-be university is recognized by MHRD.
JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research is focused on medical and health-related studies, with JSS medical college, JSS Dental College & Hospital and JSS College of Pharmacy at the main campus in Mysuruas well as another Pharmacy College in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Expanding the horizons in the field of health sciences, the department of water and health (faculty of life sciences) and department of health system management studies have been integrated as deemed-to-be university departments.
JSS AHER has also overseas campuses and centres spanning 3 international locations, enhancing opportunities for collaboration with universities, research institutes, and cultural organizations abroad. They meet the needs of a growing number of faculty and students for research support and other opportunities and engage alumni throughout each region.
The Academy takes pride in having more than 600 faculty member and approximately 2000 undergraduate and graduate students and around 300 research scholars. JSS AHER financial aid program makes it possible for talented students from all economic backgrounds to afford quality education. Various educational, cultural, social and extra-curricular activities are available to students, faculty and staff to enliven the campus life.

JSS ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION & RESEARCH, MYSURU – FACILITIES
JSS Hospital attached to the Medical College has 1,800 beds under one roof and is one of India’s biggest hospitals. It also has one of the biggest critical and emergency care facilities with 260 beds. The hospital and Medical College and other Institutions have state-of-the-art infrastructure and the most advanced equipment and facilities.
The JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research has seven libraries namely, JSS Medical College Library, JSS Hospital Library, JSS Dental College & Hospital Library, JSS College of Pharmacy (Mysuru) Library, JSS College of Pharmacy (Ooty) Library, Department of Water & Health – Faculty of Life Sciences Library, and Department of Health System Management Studies Library.
The libraries are well stocked with a comprehensive collection of traditional books, journals, and printed resources including electronic resources like CD ROMs, videos, slides, e-books, e-journals and online databases.
The Campus has Internet browsing facilities at Digital Libraries, Meeting Rooms, Reception areas of the Hostels and other suitable locations to enable access the digitized Curricula. The Campus has a Bank Branch and an ATM to help in financial transactions needed.
Canteens & Restaurants are located ideally to help students and their parents. Each College in the Campus is well equipped with Laboratories required for the practicals. Students and Faculty have exclusive Parking lots for their vehicles.
The disabled students have the following facilities like Wheel Chairs, Stretches, Ramps in all the floors of the college and hostel, Suitable toilets provided in college and hostels and Lift facilities
The college has many facilities for games viz., Outdoor: Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basket Ball, Throw Ball, Tennikoit, Ball Badminton and Athletic track, Indoor: Table tennis, Chess, Caroms, Shuttle Badminton and recreation Hall, Multistation Gym hall. .The Campus has a well-equipped gymnasium to cater to the needs of the Students and Staff.
Students have exclusive hostels for men and women with spacious, comfortable, well-furnished rooms with all modern amenities, hygienic kitchens, nutritious food, and a 24-hour security system at any/all JSSU colleges.
The campus has a bank and an ATM kiosk, plus a post office and a healthcare clinic. Leisure time spaces such as reading and television lounges are also available.
Round the clock security guards (Male & Female for respective hostels), as well as CCTV cameras, are placed for continuous monitoring and vigilance for the safety of students.
