Kamaraj University is a UGC approved State University which was established in
1966. The University has been accreditated Grade ‘A’ by National Assessment and
Accreditation Council [NAAC] in 2015. It has achieved the status of
“University with Potential For Excellence for teaching, Research, and
Outreach”. The university has produced 1 crore graduates in the past 50
years.
The
university pedagogy has adopted the Choice Based Credit System [CBCS]. The
University Grants Commission [UGC] has recognized 12 schools of the university
with Special Assistance Programmes [SAP] like Centre for Advanced Studies
[CAS], Department of Special Assistance [DSA], and Department of Research
Support [DRS].
The Madurai University Admissions can be initiated by downloading the application form through the official website. The institute has state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities available for its students to use. It also has six hostels, for students that wish to reside on campus.
A grant of
INR 9 crore has been sanctioned by the Department of Science and Technology
[DST], New Delhi in the 1st phase under Promotion of University Research and
Scientific Excellence [PURSE] programme. Funds are sanctioned by the
agencies like University Grants Commission [UGC], Department of Science and
Technology [DST], Council of Scientific and Industrial Research [CSIR],
Department of Biotechnology [DBT], Indian Council of Medical Research [ICMR],
Defence Research and Development Organization [DRDO], Indian Council of Social
Science Research [ICSSR] and more.
The university consists of many unique centres like Centre for Excellence in Genomic Science, Networking resource Centre in Biological Sciences, Centre of Excellence in innovations in Biotechnology and more. Currently, the University has over 4600 students enrolled across 20 schools and 77 various departments.

MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY-[MKU],MADURAI ,FACILITIES MKU Infrastructure includes almost all the
necessary which the students need in for their education. The campus has 2
auditorium halls, one preview theatre, and Dr Mu. Va Hall. All of them are
well furnished, air-conditioned and fitted with the latest teaching aids like
LCD projector, slides projector and overhead projector.
One can avail banking
facilities using SBI bank and SBI ATM located inside the MKU campus. A canteen is available
which is open to all. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian are being served in
MKU canteen from 8 A.M till 6 P.M. It has Dr T.P.M.
Library which was established in 1957. It has second largest collections in the
University Libraries in Tamil Nadu. It works for 8 A.M till 8 P.M during
weekdays and from 10 A.M till 5 P.M during weekends. University provides 24
hours hospital service to the students, faculties and 40 neighbouring villages
inside MKU campus with nominal charges with 24 hours ambulance service, X-ray
unit, Lab, ECG, nebulizer etc. MKU hospital also works with the collaboration
with Apollo Speciality Hospitals The campus has an IAS
Coaching Centre which offers six month IAS coaching programme for the students. The campus has 24-hour
CCTV surveillance. The university
consists of a Guest House for the outside visitors. MKU uses solar power
system and ensures to produce clean and pollution-free electricity. MKU uses
battery-free systems hence the maintenance charges will be less. College bus facility
is available for the students and faculties to the various points in the city
like AnnaNagar, Therkuvasal, Periyar, Kalavasal, Checkanurani, Keelavasal,
Theppakulam to the campus and back. The campus has a WiFi
facility for the student and faculties to avail internet services with the

Fellowships that the University provides are Lady Tata Memorial Trust
