NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad was founded in the year 1960 with 3 branches during the second Five with the assistance of Central and State Government under the Grand in – Aid scheme. Presently it is one among the most reputed, Engineering educational institutions in Kerala, affiliated to the University of Calicut. At present, the institution provides B-TECH degree courses in 6 branches and M-TECH degree courses in Communication engineering,Power Electronics,Computer Science and Engineering, Structural Engineering and Computer Integrated Manufacturing. It is the one among the fourth engineering institute in Kerala. The college founded with three branches of engineering viz, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering were begin in 1980, 1986 and 1999 respectively. The institution provides M.Tech degree courses from 2011. The college was affiliated to University of Calicut till 2014.
Campus is situated at Akathethara (9km from Palakkad town), spread across 125 acres. College is well connected by road, rail and air to all destinations. Hostel facility is available for the students. It includes campus facilities such as Auditorium, Wifi, Canteen, Computer Lab, Library, ATM, Sports, Transport, Seminar Hall, Hostel are also available. N S S College Of Engineering accepts KEAM – BE/B.Tech for admission into Engineering degree courses.

LIbrary
The NSS College Library System consists of a Central Library. It has almost 6 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching and research programmes of the Institute and offers facilities for general reading and disseminates information according to the needs of the users. The Library has a Computerised Library Information System with Internet Browing Centre.
Hostel
The NSS Institute has comfortable and well furnished residential facilities with various courses. There are 3 hostel blocks for men and 1 for women with an inmate capacity of over 483 and 172 respectively. Hostel rooms are welll spacious, which offers comfortable environment.
Transport
The NSS College is currently having 2 buses for transportation of students and staff members residing in Palakkad Town and nearby areas. Buses are operated daily on all working days of the college with convenient timings. In addition to daily trips, buses are made available.The Bus Facility is monitored by the College Bus Committee.
Computer Centre
The NSS institute has started centralized computer centre to offer the common and advanced needs of the young students and staff members. This centre started functioning in the year 2008. The centre offers the latest computer and browsing facilities.
Canteen
NSS College canteen is situated at a easily accessible area to all departments. Variety of refreshments and meals are available at the college canteen at affordable rates. Adequate seating facilities are offered to accomodate young students and staff members even during peak time.
Auditorium
The NSS College has a well furnished auditorium, situated in the main block. It has a seating capacity of over 800 audiences. The auditorium is used for activities such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, cultural activities,important functions and meetings of students and faculties, and other events. The auditoriums are well equipped with latest public addressing,LCD projectors and comfortable seats.
Seminar Halls
The NSS college has 1 main Seminar Hall and almost 5 departmental seminar halls. All are aesthetically designed. It makes possible an ideal setting for carrying out several conferences and delivering lectures. Each has a seating capacity of over 100 people. Each seat is well equipped with a pull-out writing ‘tablet’ to support note-taking.
Sports & Games
There is an Outdoor Stadium with almost over 400 m tracks for Atheletics. The indoor court for Shuttle Badminton and Table Tennis are available. Also, there is a Gymnasium and other weight lifting facilities.
