Government Polytechnic College, Kalamassery, situated at the industrial hub of Kerala is the largest polytechnic in the state. It provides diploma courses in seven branches of engineering including Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Automobile Engineering and Computer Engineering. It also provides a diploma course in Civil Engineering specially designed for the hearing impaired candidates.
Government Polytechnic College, Kalamassery had its inception in 1951. It aimed to give a platform for students belonging to all category of community to reach out to the technical education arena. It initially had four Courses: – Food Technology, Automobile, Fisheries and Chemical Technology. In due time the college enhance in lot of courses and its intake to become one of most popular and prestigious government polytechnic institutes. It is now one of the best key players in bringing out skilled technicians who can either stand on their own feet or prove to be valuable workers or pursue further education in the engineering field with confidence and competence.
