Vel Tech High Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, Chennai was established in the year 2002 under R.S. Trust. The Engineering College was formerly known as Vel SRS Hitech Engineering College. The Institution located in Avadi, Chennai draws students from all States of India.
With its Vision to pursue excellence in technical education to create civic responsibility with competency, the College is committed to impart the attributes of global engineers to the students to face industrial challenges with social relevance and to attain the skills through lifelong learning.
The institution s approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Anna University in 2002. College is ISO 9001:2008 certified, accredited by NAAC with “A” Grade and by NBA. The College offers 8 UG Programmes and 3 PG Programmes with student strength of 2255.
The College follows Outcome Based Education, a student centric approach of curriculum design and innovations in teaching/ learning process that enhances active learning. Vel Tech Engineering College is located in a sprawling campus of about 30 acres at Avadi, with the nearest airport, Chennai at about one hour drive. The campus is accessible by road from Chennai, Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh.
The Institution takes pride in having a well-defined infrastructure which includes Department buildings, Laboratories, Library, Research Centre, Common Amenities and Students Hostels.
Both the under
graduate and Post graduate libraries are fully computerized with the former having
resources of 42,639 volumes, 10660 Titles and 2046 CD’S. The Post graduate library
houses more than 14933 volumes, 3733 Titles and 400 CD’s. The College also subscribes
to news papers and Journals. The library has joined DelNet consortium, IEEE for
e-journals and Proquest E-Books access at discounted rates fixed by MHRD for accessing
he journals online.
The students are accommodated in comfortable
hostels with clean and hygienic rooms. The food served is healthy and
nutritious.
A Students Health care Centre is located in the campus with full time Medical Superintendent and part time qualified Specialists in General Medicine to address the urgent health needs of the students and staff. The Centre has enough beds for taking care of sick students with attached toilet inside the medical room. Medicines are made available free of cost.

Degree course, the candidate is required to pass the qualifying examination recognized by Anna University. Candidates need to appear for the TANCET Examination conducted by Anna University or GATE Entrance Exam.
