CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Sivaganga was founded at Karaikudi in 1953 as the 12th national laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR. CSIR-CECRI has extension centres in Chennai, Mandapam and Tuticorin focusing on Fuel cells, Marine Corrosion and offshore corrosion testing. Over the years, CECRI has emerged as the premier institution for research and development in electrochemical science and technology not only in India but also in the South East Asia.
CSIR-CECRI offers a unique B. Tech. Course in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering supported by the Anna University.
National and international conferences for the dissemination of scientific knowledge are organized by SIR-CECRI with the assistance of an independent professional organization of Society for Advancement of Electrochemical Science and Technology (SAEST). CSIR-CECRI has received several technology awards for its outstanding service to both Indian and Global industries.
The Institute is one of the top Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu.

The vast campus of the CSIR-CECRI spread over 300 acres .has facilities such as hostel inside the campus, a well equipped and spacious library, Computer Centre, Communication Lab, Transport, Health Centre, well maintained cafeteria and others. Each classroom is provided with projectors and screen.
Library of the institute has rich collection of resources in the areas of electrochemistry and allied disciplines with 48000 books, 7500 patents, 2800 standards and 2700 technical reports. Besides, the library provides access to over 25 national and 67 international journals.
There are 50 computers with internet facility and other modern software.
Hostel facility is provided for the students by the Institute.

Admission to college will be done on the basis of valid scores of the entrance test conducted at national level or state level for engineering courses. College accepts scores of JEE Mains and TNPCEE.
Every year Central Electrochemical Research Institute admissions are conducted for the students on the basis of cut off declared by Central Electrochemical Research Institute. The TNEA 2020 cut off scores for admission are released after each round of counseling on the official website. TNEA cutoffs are different for various categories depending on several factors.

The infrastructure of the college is good. Students are provided with 24 hours Wi-Fi access and smart classrooms. Each classroom is provided with projectors and screen. Good quality food at a cheap rate is provided in the college hostel.
There is a huge ground, and many intercollegiate games are conducted here. The basketball courts are also available for playing basketball. The teachers have good knowledge and ready to help students at any time. Teachers take classes very systematically.
