Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in Coimbatore is an autonomous, self-financing Engineering College founded in 1996 by the Bannari Amman Group (BAG), one of the largest Industrial Conglomerates in South India. It is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
The Institute aims to be a centre of excellence, providing a world-class education that transforms individuals into intellectual, empathetic and responsible citizens. With this vision, the Institute strives to provide state-of-art infrastructure and facilities and to engage committed members of faculty and industry leaders.
The institute offers 20 undergraduate, 15 postgraduate programmes in Engineering, Technology and Management studies. All the departments of Engineering and Technology are recognised by Anna University, Chennai to offer Ph.D. programmes.
The Institute takes pride in having 576 dedicated and well-qualified staff members and 7233 Students. BIT has introduced academic reforms aimed at inculcating scientific temper, efficiency, integrity, and values among the student community.

Bannari Amman Institute of Technologycampus houses well planned academic blocks, computer centres, lecture halls, tutorial rooms, libraries, well equipped departmental laboratories, conference halls, Auditorium, seminar halls, staff quarters, hostels and students’ centres.
The five-storied Library is air-conditioned, computerised and well-stacked with 89000 Volumes, 400 National and International Journals and 6500 CD-ROMs. The Digital Library provides access to 6000 e-journals, 274 NPTEL and 166 NITTTR video courses as part of the resources. BIT is an Institutional member of the British Council Library, Chennai, DELNET, New Delhi and INDEST Consortium, New Delhi.
The Institute has well-furnished hostels for gents and ladies with four, double and single occupancy rooms along with separate guest rooms. The dining halls have a seating capacity of 4100 students. Well planned and equipped servicing counters, highly modernised kitchen, a cold storage and dish washing machine are part of amenities in the hostels.
The Campus also houses a co-operative store, ATM (Axis, SBI and KVB) and a clinic to attend to the general health of the students and staff
The Institute encourages he participation of both boys and girls in sports activities by providing for facilities like 400 m standard athletic track with 8 lanes including a Long Jump & Triple Jump Pit, Sectors for Shot-put, Discus & Javelin throws, a football field and two kho- kho courts, a Hockey field with kerb, 65 m radius cricket field with two net practice pitches & one portable nets, two Volleyball courts, two Ball Badminton Courts, There also one Handball Court and two Kabaddi Courts.
The Sports complex also boasts of 2 Standard synthetic tennis courts and one volleyball court with fencing and Floodlight facilities, one multipurpose synthetic basketball court with portable and foldable backboard, fencing, floodlight facilities.
The Institute provides for playgrounds for girls: Volleyball court and Throwball Court with Floodlight facilities, Hockey field and multipurpose synthetic basketball court with portable & foldable backboard, floodlight facilities.
The separate recreational halls for boys and girls consist of two table tennis board & a ball Feeder, one pool table, four Carrom boards and four Chess Boards. The Institute has 14 semi indoor badminton courts at the hostel premises and indoor activities.
Fully equipped gym facilities are available in the boys and girls hostel separately. than 100 students avail of the gym facilities.
The college buses ply on fixed routes for the convenience of students and staff.

The eligibility for B.E./B. Tech course is a pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of 12th Curriculum prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as three or four subjects of the study or any other examination of any university or authority accepted by Anna University as equivalent thereto.
Candidates for admission to the first semester of the master’s degree programme should have passed an appropriate degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by Anna University equivalent thereto.
Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT) cutoff is the rank that a candidate needs to secure in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) entrance exam for admission to his/her favourite engineering branch offered at the college. The college will release the cutoff for its campus only on the official admission page. The cutoff will be in the form of minimum qualifying marks required in the TNEA entrance exam.

The college is good for placements. Faculty members here are very helpful and are very good. Labs are very good here, and the quality of the machines provided is excellent. Hostel facilities are fair.
The College provides an air-conditioned and a computerized library, 4 hostels for boys and 5 hostels for girls, dining halls, mini cinema theatres and indoor courts for badminton and table tennis. There is a huge auditorium that is air-conditioned and can accommodate a large number of students. Classrooms are spacious with many labs and facilities for students. A food court is available, and all medical facilities are provided.
