Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University was started by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University offers legal education on-campus as well as through 8 of their affiliated colleges in Tamil Nadu located at Chennai, Coimbatore, Vellore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem, Trichy, and Chengalpattu. Admission in Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University can be done both online and offline. Both national, as well as international students, can take admission in the University. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programs. It is named after the person who framed the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It was inaugurated on 20th September 1997, and the University started on 3rd October 1997. The main objective of Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University is to circulate, research, learn and gain more knowledge in the field of law. Its main objective is to uplift the standard of legal education in the state of Tamil Nadu.
TNDALU is recognized by the BCI (Bar Council of India) and UGC (University Grants Commission). It is a member of the AIU (Association of Indian Universities), Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, and Association of Common Wealth Universities, U.K. The fact that it is the first full-fledged law university in the country makes it one of its kind. The University has established The School of Excellence since 2002 at its campus which offers 3 to 5 years of integrated undergraduate courses in Law. TNDALU has a Postgraduate and Research Centre offering 8 different specializations in Master of Law Degree Course, doctoral programs and researching in most diverse areas of law. Government Law College,Thiruchirappalli
The Government Law College, Tiruchirappalli started functioning at E.V.R. College Campus. Due to inadequate accommodation facility, the Law College was shifted to East Chinthamani, Tiruchirappalli. Subsequently the Government Law College was shifted to the present campus in the year 1994 and renamed as Government Law College, Tiruchirappalli. The Government Law College, Thiruchirappalli is one among the seven government law colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The rest of the law colleges in Tamil Nadu, it is administered by Tamil Nadu’s Legal Studies, and affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. The Tiruchirappalli college was opened in the year 1979, the same year as the Coimbatore college, joining existing government law colleges at Chennai and Madurai.
The college has undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and maintains a hostel for girl students.
